Muscle Retention on a cut?

I am banned!
Besides keeping an adequate protein intake is their anything I can do to retain my muscle mass on a cut? I like interval training when it comes to cardio. I also get decent amount of saturated fat. As far as weights I stick to strength training. Anything else I can do to keep muscle mass?

Carbs for me around the clock is good for energy purposes, cortisol reduction, parasympathetic activation, vasodialation, proper digestion, muscle retention etc. But as insulin rises nothing can exit the cell? At the end of the day protein stores being full would be a huge determining factor and overtime as in months when insulin is low and GH is available from exercise,postexercise, sleep or whenever fat exits the fat cell? Is that a fair way of putting it?

Also too high of a caloric deficit will make too much mitochondria produced which will breakdown muscle tissue.
