I don't know why, I have a pretty strong stomach and can handle anything, I like spicy foods. But I've found that if I eat red meat late at night I messes with me in the A.M.

I've just found that I can lose fat more eficiently by eating ALOT of clean food and doing ALOT of cardio (1 hour every a.m 6 days per week). and lifting in the evenings...remember though, I spend alot of time in the gym to burn off the cals....the only advantage is I feel very strong and my muscles are always full.


I think if you reduced that cardio to 20 - 30 min (5x / week) and kept eating fairly clean. You would still stay lean or maybe (2% higher at most) but would definatley help add some needed muscle.

Remember 2% bodyfat isn't hard to lose and it becomes a lot easier the more LBM you have.
 
Hi Dirk...two questions:

1.Do you already sip on your PWO shake during the workout or do you drink it entirely afterwards?

2.At what times are you taking the Glutamine (30 grams in one dose)?
 
Hey Dirk, Post pics of yourself at various states; i.e. off season, on season, etc...

I just want to see what you look like at 265 and at your other weights....

Please don't take that request as derogatory, I'm just disillusioned with this board. Lots of people post diets, training advice etc, yet no one posts pics to show their work. I've posted my pics, diets training and people who contribute nothing flamed me. Again, not that you are the problem, I'd just like to see some credibility on this board.

I completely agree with you--I have serioudly considered posting a daily journal with training, diet, and pics.

However 2 things have kept me from doing this.

1.) Exactly what you had happen to you: People with no real reason flamming and bashing your physique - no matter how good it is. I mean we have pro's on other sites that get bashed.

2.) I am extremely worried about the security of myself. We are talking about illegal substances here and its well known that these boards are monitored. There have been arrests made lately with individuals who posted their cycle in their signature-


I would like to see some of this change - However i will say that i commend you on posting your progress pics. And you have done an outstanding job, no matter what any of the fools might say.
 
Dirk-with all due respect

1) WHO cares about what other people say? after all, its the web. if people "flame" or "bash" your physique-does it really bother you so much that you are afraid to post a pic of your tip top physique?

2) are you REALLY so afraid that posting a few pics of yourself will identify you to the authorities or something? i mean come on we are not talking a close up of your face, a few faceless shots will do.
People need to see what is possible eating 3800 calories every day and having a cheat meal at mcdonalds every other day.
Please, you dont have to be afraid. I doubt that a close up of your abs will tip off the FBI as to your identity and please dont be so afraid of all the rude comments other people will make.

Dirk I've been using basmatti rice as my primary source of carbs, I know that what matters is the total GI in the meal, but do you think that it worths along with complete whole meals using protein(almost every protein source is low GI) sources?
I'm asking this because I pay around here the doble price for the basmatti rice!
 
If your asking can you get away with using plain white rice, instead of the basamatti rice which is 2x more expensive.

Then the answer would be yes.

I love basamatti rice much more then any other rice, but i could never justify spending 2x the price of plain white rice just so my GI could only be slightly lower.
 
I like basmatti too, and it requires more lengh in cooking and since i've got vitroceramic it's easier!
Not mutch problem with the money, but only wanted to know if it was worth! Since i love the flavour, cooking is better for me plus the adicional GI benifit.

No i do not sip on the shake - it is completely PW.

I have in the past used a combo of Gatorade and BCCA's during my workouts at various points. Its worth trying.

Glutamine -

I take like 10g PW, 10g Before Bed, and like 10g before my first meal.

Hope that helps.
 
dirk , just curious about your diet. do you eat that every single day (roughly) , or do you substitute chicken with steak and so on ?
 
I subsitute a few things like adding some White Fish, where chicken would be.

Or some good old steaks or salmon in where the hamburger is.

I'm not exact and i would never think anyone should be - Thats the easiest way to wear yourself out.

Heck there are some days where i'm just not hungry for whatever reason it is and i cut my meals down to maybe 3 with 1 snack.

I like it - i wish it was cheaper is all. Its really great when it comes a week before a contest and i need to load on carbs.

Just to give you my .02, I've been working with DMS for about a year and a half, he's brought me in to 2 shows now. I can tell you straight up, the guy knows his stuff. I know you don't say that he doesn't but your desire for credibility is understandable so hopefully I can help add some. Plus, he also trains my training partner, also brought into 2 shows. Both of us made significant progress from one show to the other and made great gains offseason following DMS' direction. You can check out my latest pics at -

Keep in mind all the work he does with us is through emails, pics, and phone calls; we have never met face to face and yet he can make the necessary adjustments by asking the right questions and paying attention to how your specific physique reacts to changes. Simply put, the guy is a professional, does it for a living, and is very good at it. And I can also say, having seen a couple of his pics, he's a bit of a beast himself. I know this sounds like an advertisement, it isn't, but like you I want the distinctions made between those who know their stuff because they do the research and stay committed and those that enjoy the anonymity of the web. FWIW.

what do you mean by kcals. whats the k stand for? Also what brand vitargo do you take? Pure or the creatine type?
