Just got my bloods back and my thyroid numbers are off. Trying to interpret what this means and how to remedy it. I'm a new when it comes to this specific problem.
my results were as follows:

TSH- 5.410 ( high ) normal range being .45 - 4.5

Thyroxine (T4) - 9.5 , normal range 4.5-12

T3 uptake - 27 , normal range 24-39

Free thyroid index - 2.6 , normal range 1.2-4.9

So basically only my TSH is high. Can someone tell me what this means and what steps I can take.

From what I've researched so far most sites are saying that high TSH and normal t4&T3 indicate that you have hypothyroidism bc you're not converting the TSH to t4 and t3 quick enough so its building up. does this sounds right?

stats-
I'm 5'9" 190lbs about 13%bf at the moment. Have not done a cycle in over 4 years. Not on anything now, am planning on starting a cycle soon thats why I got the bloods done.

Hold on the cycle. Its very important to get this straighten out now so uou dont have to take thyroid meds for the rest of your life. You need to go back and have them test your levels using the dialisis methiod. TSH is not an Accurate methiod. You also need you iodine levels tested. The thyroid is very resilient. Id supplement iodine and take kelp capsules for a few weeks and see what that does to uou body fate and energy levels. Everything else looked good. Id be happy with the levels you had. The real question is how do you feel.

There is a negitive feed back loop with your thyroid. It maybe at play.

Poster above me is spot on for this one.

How do you feel? Sometimes because of environmental stress factors, (such as anxiety) it can trigger your thyroid out of wack leading to high numbers. The dialisis method is more accurate as mentioned above, the standard bloodwork is often inconclusive. Best of luck.
