Need Help

Getting him to retest and for a larger range of items is a great idea. Follow though with that.

Well the problem with that is I tried to get a retest, and instead he just said I don't have a testosterone problem and said, "these tests cost a lot of money..." then sent me back to my GP.

I understand the frustration notice my userid? And brain fog is very real, as well as all the other symptoms. The only other thing that I can empasize is the buy in with your mother. The more she understands, the better off she can get you the help you need. Have your mom chime in here. What I don't understand is why a specialist would say that your levels are normal. Are you sure you posted the right numbers? Also, do you know why your levels are so low?

In my case they orderd a lot of blood work, at least 28 large vials worth, and one MRI. You can read about the rest in my other post if your interested. But there is a reason for everything. Find out what that reason is.

I'm 100% sure those are the right levels. The only reason I can think my levels would be low is something to do with me having Celiac disease. I've had that my whole life, but I haven't found much on it causing low T unless you're ingesting gluten. I was tested to see if I had ingested any gluten lately and it came back negative. So I don't know. I'm puzzled.

Well, even though you are feeling like shit, please try to be patient and try to get to the root of the problem. This may take some time and effort. In the meantime as a suggestion, I would look into more holistic doctors. A D.O (Doctor of Osteopath) or a DOM (Doctor of Oriental Medicine) could help you out. They are more involved with the hormones and can test for more causes, etc. Personally, I never did have luck with Endocrinologists. Nothing against them, but they never helped me personally. My current doc is a DOM and she has been great at testing what I need tested without second guessing me. However, you have to find that doctor. Call around and find some hormone doctors and call their office and speak with the secretaries and ask about different treatments they do. I can say that your test levels are really low.

As for Chip, I am a Maximus customer and I am completely happy. Perhaps Chip can correct me if I am wrong, however I believe it is hard for a guy to get on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) under 30 years of age much less at 18 years old. Perhaps Chip can chime in see how he can help. I would be interested in seeing your thyroid labs and your cortisol numbers too.

I got my Cortisol tested in May by a dermatologist, and it was 29.8 mcg/24 h. My TSH in July was 2.49 uIU/mL, and my free T4 was 1.33 ng/dL.

I was going to call Chip today but I overslept and just now woke I up. I assume it's too late to call at this point.

I'd like to thank everyone that has offered information and advice in this thread. It really means a lot to me, and has actually restored some of my hope which seemed completely lost after going to doctor after doctor for 6 months now.

Saw my GP today about Cymbalta not working. I told her I really want to explore the possibility of me having low T, I brought up the studies I've read. She ordered me another blood test for Total T and Free T this time. I'm also getting referred to another endocrinologist who hopefully isn't a complete dick. I'll keep you guys updated! Keep forgetting to call Chip, fucking brain fog..

You should shoot him a text first and see if he's busy or not. I hear ya on that brain fog lol...

Alright, I saw another Endo today and he basically told me the same thing. Said he has no grounds to treat me based on my levels which look normal. I questioned him on why he thought those levels were normal for an eighteen year old male and he said, "well, testosterone levels fluctuate." He wants me to wait two months and get another blood test. I'm personally sick of this waiting around bullshit. An eighteen year old with a 161 total t level doesn't seem normal to me. I've never done drugs, never used steroids, don't drink, don't smoke, and I'm not overweight. Every doctor I see just tries to tell me I'm depressed. Well, I am depressed. I'm depressed because right after high school graduation when I had my whole life ahead of me I start feeling awful and nobody has done anything for me. I've been on a wild goose chase for 7 months now. Does anyone know of any link between people with celiac disease and low testosterone?

I would definitely be looking for another doctor. Sounds like he has no idea whats going on and giving you the run around.

The problem is that this was the second opinion! But the major red flag was when he said that the endocrinologist I saw earlier was a "good doctor." That's the same cocksucker that laughed at me when I asked for another blood test.

I guess what this guy wants me to do is wait another two months (hell) and get another blood test. If it's low he said he'll get me an MRI for a pituitary problem. That sounds legit, but I don't want to wait that much just to probably get disappointed again by these people.

MRI is a good idea. 2 months isn't too long to wait. Would you rush into heart surgery without an MRI? While hormones are pretty important.

I have 20yr old buddy with low test, his MRI showed a tumer. I'd want to know about that.

So it has been about a month now since I last saw an endocrinologist. He said that we should wait two months and get my testosterone levels checked again. I submitted my medical questionnaire to Maximus, but I haven't gotten a physical yet to fax. Should I wait a month and see this guy again who raised red flags when he said that the last doctor I saw was a good doctor when he was clearly a douche and wouldn't even retest me? I'd like to be with Maximus but I saw that they only treat people 30 or older. I wish I could get treated trough an endocrinologist so it would be covered by my medical insurance, but with the way they have been acting around me I think it's unlikely they'll do anything. They seem to think an 18 year old with a 161 total T is fine. I'm pretty sure if they were in my boat they'd treat themselves. I'd like some advice from people who are well educated on the process of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and what they think of my levels. My last blood test showed 161 total T and .121 Free T. What do you guys think of those levels? I have constant body aches, lack of motivation, back pain and my libido is laughable. Thanks.
