Need some advice on TRT protocol adjustment

Have a question about adding Hcg to my trt protocol

Been on trt for 4 months and my tt levels are 750 peak and 550 trough thinking about options of upping tt levels.

Option 1 adding HCG 250iu 2x week.

But my reseach has lead me to believe that it stimulates the thyroid and since being on trt my tsh has went from 2.52 to 3.16 and 3 being the standard high mark would this be a good option? Since last blood work confirmed the higher level I've noticed a weight loss stall and actually gained a pound or two I'm thinking that the higher number in tsh is the culprit. Working with 3J and downloading this week on diet and training.

I've also read studies about keeping your natural t production alive is healthy. How true is this?

Option 2 increase test c from 100 to 125 mg a week and maybe splitting injection to 2x a week

Any personal experience would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

That is a shit ton of hCG. I wouldn't consider going anywhere near that high.

Somewhere between 250-500iu twice per week seems to be preferred by most guys.

Arent you on a diet now where you have restricted colories? That can affect your thyroid. RippedZilla had a great post on this not too long ago.

I might have missed this but why are you looking to increase your dosage so early on into TRT treatment? Not judging just curious. I've been on for 2 yrs and keep a trough of 800 plus so I understand why you might wanna run a higher range. But I'm wondering if it won't further complicate your thyroid numbers.

Of the two choices offered I vote for HCG addition. But I will admit I do not know what negative implications it might have on thyroid function. I'm sure some of the other folks could chime in on it.

Yes mega i'm adjusting diet/training for a week or so to see what happens with tsh levels .

But want to bring up tt numbers and want to get some advice on the route to go to do it.

Could you give me your opinion on which route you would recomend from the above post?

Thanks

When I first started I felt great numbers wer a little higher on trough closer to 700. At 550 I feel like I'm going back wards in energy so would like to get trough back to around 700

Typo damn phone auto correct LMAO 250 iu 2x

I'd add the hCG regardless of what your TT goal is. Try adding it to your protocol and see if it has any significant effect on your T values. If not, and you want your testosterone to be higher, bump up the amount of testosterone you're injecting in small increments until you find your sweet spot.

Ok.

I get blood work and have appointment next week to review with with dr.

He's not big on hcg so I'll lead him that way by discussing my atrophy and wanting to keep natural test from being dormant. And see if he will add it and raise the test 25mg.

Thank you

What research do you have that HCG stimulates the thyroid?
If your TSH is increasing that would indicate your thyroid is slowing down not speeding up!
HCG doesn't increase Test while on TRT....

This is something I've been looking into after Mega made me aware of the interest from the trt board.

There were a lot of conflicting studies in the early 90s on whether HCG stimulated the thyroid, and if it did, whether it was too weak to really matter.
The closest I can find to a readable summary of the issue was this:

Thyrotropic action of human chorionic gonadotropin. - PubMed - NCBI

"...There is thyroid-stimulating activity in sera of normal pregnant women, and this correlates with serum hCG levels. The thyroid gland of normal pregnant women may be stimulated by hCG to secrete slightly excessive quantities of T4 and induce a slight suppression of TSH, perhaps being about 1 mU/L less than nongravid levels, but not high enough to induce overt hyperthyroidism."

Most of the studies are based on correlations but I recall one that stated that a specific molecule of HCG was responsible for the stimulation of the thyroid.

IMO if it does stimulate thyroid output it would be to very weak, to the point were I wouldn't even consider it for this purpose.
In fact I recall Anthony Roberts raising the same thing about HCG to improve thyroid output and he was heavily criticized for it by people a lot more knowledgeable than him.
There's also the fact that if it did stimulate the thyroid to any relevant extent, then everyone would be hoping on HCG while dieting.

In summary, using HCG specifically to increase thyroid output is a pretty inefficient way to go about things :)
