New Doc unwilling to do HRT

We've only won it 5 times
Long story short, new doc(moved for work) just got blood tests back. I had complained before that I was extremely fatigued, depressed, little sex drive and gaining belly fat even though I'm on an intensive strength & conditioning program. Test levels came back @ 403. Thyroid lower end of normal. I'm on Synthroid for Hypothyroidism at 50mcg. Prev doctor had me on 200mg of Test E but new doc is dismissing that. Previous to getting results back the doc set an appointment at the endocrinologist but now says 403 doesn't require extra.

Ran 4 previous cycles with post cycle therapy (pct).

Any input appreciated.

Where are you currently located?

I would suggest a google search for anti-aging doctors or male hormone therapy specialists. Either one would likely be willing to treat you if you are symptomatic and your T is 403. Most others are scared of their own shadow unless your T meets the medical definition of low. Out of curiosity, how old is this guy?

Your current doctor is on the opposite side of cutting edge. Probably still cures tummy aches with a warm coke.

Yea he's 28. It's very frustrating cos even this whole merry dance has me off the HRT due to waiting for doc's okay. I may see what endocrinologist says and go from there. Surely feeling this shitty is low test symptoms? Last doc thought so.

Why no endo? Sorry dont mean to hijack thread.

Because it is a waste of time and money.

Endo's are pretty good at thyroid stuff. But not so good at Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). I am stereotyping of course. Quite simply they are not taught Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). So unless they have a personal interest in it, than I know more about it from these boards than they do. This is my experience with endo's as well as others. Maybe I'm wrong, but every story on here is the same thing. Bottom line, endo's don't know shit about hrt.

Now the time. 3 visits.
  • 1st visit to get in the door, and be told you need blood work.
  • 2nd visit to do the blood work.
  • 3rd visit to go over the blood work. And unless your under 250, they won't do shit. As they typically use a much lower scale.

Interesting, sounds about right though. Guess my journey will just have to continue.

Yea Ive been waiting long enough so seeing as I have a newly established line of communication with my doc I e-mailed him in relation to the situation basically saying that even though I'm "within range" I'm going to llok for other options if he can't help me. I'll look for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) friendly docs. Whats the best way to go about this?

someone should probably make a sticky on how to find a testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) friendly doc. i know one way is to find a compounding pharmacy in your area, call them and ask for a list of docs that prescribe testosterone.

That's exactly what I did, but didn't have very much luck. Most places see you as shopping around for steroids. Most places are too busy to talk to you anyways. And they don't like to give Dr.'s names out. But that's just my first hand experience.

This afternoon I did what some people have recommended - spoke to the local compounding pharmacist. Oh, how I wish I had done that six months ago!

I was straight up with her. I told her what the problem was, I told her I needed help, and she gave me a rundown on all the possible doctors. I now have five names to call. It was as simple as that. I have the positives and negatives for all of them. I know which one to use if I reckon I know more than he does; I know which one to use if I want to be guided by an expert.

Summary: Looks like it worked for me.

Maybe I should try this. Guess its worth a shot as what I am currently doing doesnt seem to be progressing like I think it should. Thanks for the advice.
