New to TRT. Learning the ropes. Feels like trial and error

Ok here goes. Apologies for being long winded. 40 years. Been heavy all my life. Recently lost 63lbs. Eat keto/paleo. But have had trouble in the bedroom. Dr recommends T and HCG (to preserve fertility) T was 449 in January. Weight loss brought it up 640. My E2 was 27. This was on June 25th. I start the T therapy I have to be honest I blindly trusted their dosing. 1mg of T and two days later HCG .5mg. Redraw labs at the four week point and my TT is 1764 and my E2 is doubled at 58. This is where they backed the dose down to .75 of T and .25 of HCG. Wood was hit or miss for the first two weeks but the libido was nice.

Third and fourth week I felt like shit and was weepy and moody and puffy. No morning or night wood. I can only attribute this to the higher E2 but not sure. So I cautiously started Arimidex they were like .5 mg 2x a week and I was like let’s try .25 EOD. I don’t want to over do it and bottom out the E2. So I took .25 on this past Thursday with my shot and then another .25 today with My HCG. So if I do the math correctly it’s .25 EOD or 1mg a week. First dose felt like I pissed my brains out. Not much for the wood though. So I will see how it feels tonight and tomorrow night as I should hit T peak today or tomorrow. Lab redraw is in Aug 20th. Please share your advice. Appreciate you all in advance for your help and feedback

Congrats on the weight loss.

One observation I've got is a test level of 640 and E2 at 27 is really a good set of figures. I doubt any doctor would advise TRT with those, so are you sure of them? T plus HCG is a great combo, but if your levels were really 640 you don't need it.

Next I can't work out your testosterone dosing. Seems like you might be meaning ml's. Also can you confirm if your test is 200mg/ml or 250mg/ml?

And for Adex - a dose of 0.25mg EOD is enough for a full cycle of 500 mg/wk testosterone. If you really want to take it with 200 or 150 mg/wk dosage you should cut it down further. You could try 0.125 EOD or E3D.

Great advice from tankmanbob ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I agree, you did NOT need TRT at 640. You are now or were on a cycle. 1700 is a super physiological level. Since you jumped in, get your dosing right. Pin every 3.5 days and make sure you do your blood work at your through, and NOT your peak.

You need a new doc. He never should have put you on TRT. You are going to inject testosterone the rest of your life just to get back to around 640ng/dl? Seems pretty dumb

Ok fair enough that the numbers weren’t bad to begin with. But they told me it what’s called functional medicine. That while 640 is normal and all the lab work comes back normal I’m still not able to get an erection so what’s causing it? Not blood pressure not diabetes, my wife is smoking hot. It should not be a problem. I don’t want to take cialis for the rest of my life. I am in better physical shape than I have ever been and eat well like I never have before. He said I responded very well. So what now? Do I quit it cold turkey and keep working out and doing cardio? I’m only 6 weeks in at this point. I’m trying to save face in my marriage here.

Do NOT stop cold turkey, unless you are planning on PCT and trying a restart. At this point, I would roll with it and get youself dialed in. Keep up on your blood work, and go with how you feel and NOT with what your numbers say. You might feel great around 1,200, but everyone is different. After 6 weeks, your bedroom issue should NOT be an issue, unless your E2 is crazy and too high or too low.

Are you taking any other meds that might be causing the ED? Finasteride?

If you decide to stay on get some masteron and/or proviron. I find the DHT derivatives do wonders down there. If you come off you could still try the proviron.

There are lots of causes of ED. What else did you check out before going on TRT? And as mentioned, what other meds are you on? When dinthe ED start? How is your libido?

By the way, when my testosterone levels were below 200ng/dl, I could still get an erection. I was just too tired all the time. I would rather sleep than have sex back then.

Agree that T 640 was not likely the cause of your ED. T generally is profoundly low before ED results.
