After reading a brochure in my docs. office I realized that I could be the poster child for trt. I continued to research and lurk on several different forums until I decided I needed to try something...soon! I am a 42yrs old married with 3 children. I have always led a relatively active life in sports and recreational activities. I had been feeling run down for about 2-3 years now, low or no libido, lack of motivation, a sense of "whatever"...I knew something had to change. My doc tested me for low t and the results were 215 at 8am, another test a month later yielded 120 at noon. I've now been using Axiron (pump gel, under the arms) 60mg a day for 13 days. Initially I thought I felt my energy increase but I realize this was psychosomatic and instantly wanting to feel better. I am now feeling something, my workouts have improved in the past couple of days as far as strength and endurance. I find myself sweating very easily, I am a little more tired in the am than usual?, and I feel my attitude/motivation is improving. At least I think something is happening...I do feel a little different! I know it's not a light switch and everyone is different and I am trying to be patient, but no change in libido...which sucks! I will keep you updated, if you wish and report any possible improvements. BTW, I'm getting things together for Maximus to review...as I want to do this right!

Welcome! I've been with maximus about 4 weeks now and have been nothing but impressed. Top notch people.

Welcome to the team!!! I am 43 and have been where you are. You have a lot of good stuff ahead of you. Be patient with the process and don't be afraid to ask questions. There's a lot of support to be had in this forum.

Well you may as well be slathering yourself up with estrogen cream because the T gel just converts to estrogen after some time. Aromatase enzyme which converts T to Estrogen is all over the skin and fat and rubbing it on you will do that. Then it raises SHBG. I got to the point where I could bathe in the stuff and feel absolutely nothing. it's poison! Just look over the net it is full of stories of people on it for 2 months then it stops working and they grow tits.

Well...I definately don't want bitch tits, but I am still researching and learning. I wanted to move forward with something fast before my job or my family life was affected by my low energy and libido. I'll continue using at least unitl I see my doc. for a follow up. If I have to be on something, I definately want to reap all the benefits. Can I expect much muscle gain through testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or is that a silly question because testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can be comprised of so many different approaches. I am not opposed to needles, so I could lean on my doc. to get the full benefits of trt. I am very anxious to get my info. to Maximus, I'm hoping they can find the best fit or regiment for me.

How's your relationship with your current Dr.? Are you so sure that he is not open to working with you to fine tune your current program? or is it that you want all changes to now rather than exercising patience with your current Doc?

Well, my docs. a urologist and most of the time I dealing with his nurse practioner. So I'm getting the impression they may not be the biggest experts on the subject. I see alot of info. back and forth on who is the best source....endo, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) clinic, etc. So I've just been taking all this info. in and trying to make an informed decision and yes I am a little impatient. They prescribed Axiron (latest, greatest test.get) so I'm not real sure if they're real sure...the doc. was like "try it". I'm anxious to see my next blood work...in about 2 weeks. It's funny, just sitting here browsing over threads I actually think I'm feeling better, leaner, and on the right track.

I feel you, Im in a similar boat as I'm about to begin treatment. Im working with a Urologist that i have worked with before on a separate issue. I plan to exercise patience as it takes more than a cpl weeks to get dialed in as everyone's body is different. From reading here, Im pretty sure Maximus is all that Ive read about it which is excellent. However you never know if your personal Dr. has Maximus potential if your patient with the process?

Starting my log

I guess I should have started this already, but I'm creating a log. BTW, I'm 42, 6', 230lbs and have a healthy beergut. Day 14 of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) with Axiron 60mg 1xday. I got back to working out steady about 2 mos. ago...been off and on forever! Endurance during workouts continues to improve 2 hrs.balls to the wall, 1hr cardio, 1hr weights.
Morning wood pretty regular, but have to get worked up to have sex until last night...wife is ready and willing and very attractive...took care of business for her, energy is peaks and valleys for now.

Feeling good

16 days, woke up this morning feeling good even though sleep wasn't great. I took a couple days off from working out because I was so fatigued and sore, it helped! I just need really need to work on diet. Bad habits include; rum & coke 2-3 drinks a night, sometimes only getting 2 meals a day, not watching my protein or carb. close enough and not drinking enough water. I'm thinking of weaning myself off antidressant - Lexapro, doc. gave me when I was feeling depressed 2 yrs ago, already gave up the Xanax. I'm feeling strong from my workouts, muscles feel hard although I have high BF to work on.

2 meals a day is terrible. Search threads about 3J on this board. The diet is just as important, if not moreso, than anything else. Alcohol will dimish nutrient absorption, raise estrogen, and enhance dyhydration. I love my cocktails too, but you are better of maybe picking one of two night per week instead of every night. When I stopped the nightly cocktails and started a diet plan with 3J, everything change quickly. Metalbolism is through the ceilling now. I'm 42 and had all of the same symptoms as youself.

getting your diet in check should be your number 1 priority right now... your diet is going to be your all star player man..

Getting organized

Definatley getting the diet in order and yes I will be contacting 3j's in the future. My workouts are pretty well establised now and my energy is improving greatly. Next, are lifestyle changes, breaking bad habits! I'm trying to be realistic and don't want to burn out because I'm changing too much too fast. I have to say I am feeling better and better. Day 18 of trt; some random fatigue that subsides as soon as I get active, morning wood and very hard, some constipation and slow peeing (I think it's as simple as hrydration), my testicles seem softer?, and really intense workouts...I have to stop myself, I feel like I could keep training. BTW, picked up my blood results taken 1 day before starting trt.

Day 20, feeling pretty darn good. I have minor fluctuations in feeling tired. like heavy eyelids in the morning, but once I get active it all subsides? My workouts continue to improve, 45+mins. cardio, then 60+mins. of weight/machines. I pretty much stick to one body part per day, every now and then I may mix shoulders with tricep or back with bicep. I'm past getting sore so I think I need to get more intense with the weight. My strength has definately increased alot over the past two months. My next bloodwork isn't scheduled until Jan 6, I'm very curiouse about what my test. levels will be. In the interum I am still researching every chance I get and trying not to ask too many dumb questions, while slowly progressing toward ims testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) therapy.

Weights before cardio is a winner..

thepower,
That is the way I used to work out but I find my energy and endurance to be better with cardio as a "warm up". I don't know if this makes physiological sense but I'm happy with it for now. Why do you prefer weights first?

If you do cardio before weights it should be only 5-10 min and used as a warm up.

you need more energy to lift and you dont want to use all that up in your cardio before getting to the weights. i know i want to most energy in my body when i have some heavy weight over my head. if your going to do more than 10 min of cardio then do it after you lift.

i like to lift then do some low intensity cardio. either elipticle or stairmaster thingy for bout 15-20 min
