Oats or Rice?

i'm so sick of rice i either eat 1 cup of oatmeal (measured dry) or 9 tablespoons of cream of wheat (measured dry) both are worth 300 kcals and both are plain jane slow burning carbs . . .

First if you can use Oat bran over oatmeal.
Second you should be using more rice then oats.

Now i'm being very technical about rice being a better polysaccharide and the mucous production. However since you asked i'm telling you.

why more rice than oats??

There are a lot of reasons. Look at Oats and Allergic reactions, Digestion, ect.

You have to look at the whole picture. Now i've never tried to sway someone one way or another but when they want a point blank response then i'll give it.

i always thought oats were a better carb source than rice. and could you be a little more specific in the reasons? thanks

Let me ask you, WHY did you think oats were a better carb source??? Where did this come from, was it from your own research or from someone telling you??? Question everything.

Don't get me wrong oats are a better carb then most, but he wanted an answer to which is the BEST.

The other thread about milk and lactose intolerance. Everyone tells you that milk is great, but when you really do the research you find differently. We take advice sometimes from people who have no clue what they are talking about.

i have to admit the reason why i thought oats were better would be from reading these forums here and over at BB.com mostly. and from magazines. and the fact that they had a lower GI level than most other carbs helped me make that decision too.

doesnt matter as long as your talking low gi rice and not white rice.

Why no white rice?? Are white rices bad for some reason??? You make reference to needing to be Low GI. White rice can be low GI. Do you want to be more specific.

I see Basmati rice is around 58, whats wrong with that?

I see a Long Grain White Rice @ 52??

How are you going to help your BB goals because your using a carb source that is a 48 on the glycemic index and a rice that is maybe 52?

When you add the protein and fats into the equation it becomes a moot point.
