"Older Guys", TRT and upping your calories

Well before the start of my testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) at age 42 (first week in) I had my work outs in order and completely overhauled my diet.

First things that jumped out at me...1. I don't have the appetite/can't eat like I used to and 2. it is surprising difficult, at least for me, to drive up my caloric intake with a clean diet.

Questions for those that have been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and might not be looking to bulk up as much as you may have wanted to in your 20's or 30's...

What are your net calories on an average day? (my net is 2500 -2600 with some force feeding and protein shakes) I fear some groans from the crowd here...

Protein intake? (I am hovering around 187lbs today, and taking in about 250 - 280 g)

Anyone with a 4, 6, 8+ months in finding gains you are happy with without blasting past 3,000 and above net calories a day?

I know we are all different but I just have never been a big eater even 20 years ago, now it seems even harder, especially eating clean.

Interested in any feedback. Thanks!

If your trying to bulk then eating 100% clean isnt ideal. its going to be very hard to keep your cals high.

eat more calorie dense foods. up your red meat intake, eat more fatty fish, eat nuts like raw almonds and natty peanut butter. im not saying eat whatever but eat a little more loose since weight gain is the goal. don't be afraid of putting on a little bit of fat. i don't mean go all out but keep eating clean but with more calorie dense foods.

also whats wrong with trying to bulk like your in your twenties? IMO if your gonna bulk then bulk. your test levels are gonna be like your in your twenties so bulk like you are.

I am 42 as well and also have had issues with not having an appetite. I increased my meals and snacks during the day and now I am starving all the time. I gained 20 pounds in 4 months. My bf only went from 12 to 13.5%. I don't take in as much protein as you do and don't feel that much is even necessary for me. I eat a lot of almonds, muscle milk light shakes, chicken breast etc. I don't eat perfectly clean because my metabolism is through the roof and I can shed fat very fast. Try increasing your intake frequency.

What a problem to have. I WISH I felt like I couldn't eat enough. I could easily eat multiple large meals a day, but I would look (more) like Jabba the Hut.
