yup, pulled one doing deadlifts today. it pisses me off too cuz it was only my 2nd warm up set of 225lbs. sucks major ass cuz i am in pain and of course it has to be my lower back on the right side. any tips for a fast recovery?

i normally recover from pulled muscles extremely fast but any help is appreciated.

sometimes when we think we pulled something its actually a pinched nerve and a chiropracter can help with that also a good chiropracter has all kinds of masagers/ultrasound/etc. stuff for therapy on the affected area .

i agree with dawg on this one. prolly not a pulled muscle but rather impingment/misalignment. the muscles in the area tighten up to protect the injury and often times cause more pain than the injuy. odd that you did it with light weight, may be a form issue here.

Could be form, or it possibly could be just one of those freak things........

Anyway, see a chiropractor, PT (physical therapist, not some local dumbass personal trainer), or AT and get that checked out. Possiby a misalignment which could then cause the musculature to spasm in the affected area. Hurts like a bitch and a half when that happens.

If it IS a pulled muscle (most likely it would just be a strain though), be careful with that rushing back from an injury to that area, since you use the erectors and other low back muscles all day in maintaining posture - they're already being worked to some degree every day, whether you specifically target them in the gym or not.

i think it was one of those freak things. i knew it was a little weak from playing softball all weekend because when i turned the wrong way sleeping it would have the same pain. it is a great deal better today than it was yesterday and i have a very fast recovery time with injuries.

i am leaning toward misalignment now though because it only spasm when i move a certian way
