YouTube - Oldest World War I Veteran Dies

Interesting to me, it struck a cord.

This man has lived 110 years. He has seen World War I, The great depression, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, Cold War, Desert Storm, 9/11, Iraqi Freedom. He knows mankind, he has seen its greatest potential and its darkest and worst cruelty.

He has more history in him than most of us ever could imagine. To live over a century...its absolutely amazing to think he has seen us go from the Ford model T to the electric hybrid car. From WW I planes, to stealth bombers. From Air mail to Email.

He was around when the last of the wild west and cowboys faded, and he was here when the wild west of the internet was birthed.

100 years seems so long, yet so short.

I like his secret to long life.

Wow!! his secret was when you start to die don't, so I will refuse to die and hopefully live forever,.

Great post man - I have all the respect in the world four our solders.

And don't die when your about to die - I've came VERY close twice!!!

Flat lined on the table ... "code blue" is what my wife heard in the hospitol waiting room...

I woke up just before I went under - seeing nurses scrambling getting out their tools n stuff - thinking ... This "isn't" happening - then lights out!

But you know what - that's nothing compaired to what our soldiers go through.

man has all my respect. i want to have a long and fulfilling life, but i meet a man that was 104 on time. he was a resarch chemist for a local college here, he pioneered vitamins and minirals and stuff like that. i told him i hope i live that long, and he says "son, you dont want to live to be as old as i am, look at me.....i cannot see, i cannot hear, sure i can walk around, but without constant help from others i cannot do anything. i feel like a burden to my family". that did it for me man, i want a long and fullfiling life, but dont want to be a burden...

Wow 110, God bless him !

We have lost a living link to an important era in history for sure.
What a life he must have lived..
Love his secret " When you start to die DON'T !!"
Like the saying says "Everyone is the age of their heart "....

I would loved to have had the opportunity to chat with the gentlemen for a bit. I bet his views on current events and modern history would have been interesting to listen to.
