Pectoral injections, to be or not to be

I have some questions about pectoral steroid injection.

First, a little background. I regularly take anabolic steroid as a replacement therapy, as I'm very low by nature. I'm not terribly interested in getting massive or in cycles (maybe I should be). I have done site injection on my biceps back in 2005 or so and saw great results. I'm happy the way they are.

Okay, so pecs.

There's a lot of data that suggests this is pretty darned dangerous, being a vascular and nerve-rich area, not to mention close to your heart.

My pecs are the biggest problem in my workouts. No matter what I do, they just never get big. It really irritates me. And I'm talking about years of workouts, different training routines, etc.

My pecs are not so thick that a long needle would be needed. So with this in mind:

* How (if at all) can I do this reasonably and safely?

* A 1/2" 5/8" needle is probably indicated now (not much there!)

* What is "aspirating the muscle"?

* How much should I put in there? I'm guessing 1/2 cc

* In muscles like the pecs, biceps, triceps, is the testosterone likely to stay localized or will it become systemic?

My normal dose of Testosterone (currently Testim, but I have injection cypionate and enanthate that I was doing). My levels are up in the 600's. I monitor my PSAs and they never elevated when I was doing injections, they are still normal.

I switched to rub-on test because it appeared to be really messing with my blood pressure. High bp is in the family. Now that it's under control, I believe I could do a little bit and be safe, just not really huge amounts. (anyone who cares to comment on that part, please by all means).

Overall my concern is for safety. But dammit, I want my pecs to grow, it's giving me a complex...

Oh yeah, I'm 42. I'm in reasonably good shape -- been working out for many years.

Thanks in advance for good advice, tips, etc.

I have been told this. But I can say from experience that after years of working out, my biceps stayed pretty much the same. After I did a few spot injections, they got nicely big -- and have stayed that way pretty much since.

I guess everyone's experience will be different.

Spot injection is a myth. It wont make a difference.

Unless you're injecting with an ice pick, you won't even get close to your heart. I use half inch slin on pecs/quads/delts. I think most who do pec injects use 1 inch. No more than 1 inch is needed on pecs. Also, agree with the myth about spot injects with Test. I have put as much as a 1cc and a 1/2 in pecs. I haven't tried any more than that.

Boston is right, Spot Injections do not isolate growth to the injected muscle. If injecting in the chest, use a 29g .5" slin. Honestly, i'd pin else where being that you only wanted to inject there for possible growth.

While your anecdotal evidence leads you to believe that spot injections work, I will say that science simply doesn't back it up. Obviously you will do what you want, but I encourage you not inject in your pecs because you want them bigger.

I would suggest sticking with the glutes, especially if you go with a long ester and only need to inject once or twice a week.

Edit: I took too long typing on my phone and more people got in before me. So just add me to the "don't spot inject" votes.

I would never recommend to anyone to just stick with one injection site. True, he shouldn't inject somewhere just because he thinks spot injects work but pecs are actually a pretty easy spot to hit. Pecs are way easier than glutes are IMO. I don't hit glutes at all anymore.

Interesting. I love glutes - I don't have a problem getting to them, and a barely feel a 23g pin. I might eventually try another spot, but the pec always seemed more risky and painful. Always good to get other perspectives.

Using a slin makes virtually anywhere painless :smoker:

Gee, are you suggesting I'm just injecting roids and expecting them to grow with no work? Or you didn't read what I said.

I've had a very hard time getting my pecs to grow over the years -- everything else is fine. I just don't know why.

But thanks for the advice. :redhot:

try the bench press i hear it works wonders and old fashioned push ups

A disadvantage I have is I work out alone -- my friends (who do work out) haven't been the most reliable. I'm there to work out, not socialize. Anyway, years ago I hurt my wrist while doing bench presses. Damn, that took a long time to heal.

These days, I will go lighter on the free weights, then burn out on nautilus.

Pecs are a very easy inject site I kinda go at it from the sides, near the armpit above nips. I've used 25g 5/8 and 1/2. Insulin pins are much easier. 1/2 cc is a good place to start. I don't like injects in bi's with long ester, no reason just don't,

Aspirating means you push the pin all the way in and push/pull slightly on the plunger to see if any blood enters. If so you are likely in a vein/blood vessel. You don't need to pull hard at all. You will likely see an air bubble. Just used to ensure you are in muscle and nothing else.

Working out alone isn't a disadvantage at all. I workout alone and my chest is huge. I know several guys who workout alone and have no issues. It's how you train and not whether you have a partner or not.

me too italian, i train solo. anyone else would hold me back. if i do deside to go very heavy, i ask someone to watch me....be carefull doing this though as some people have no idea how to spot, and will get you hurt. about spot injections. i have meet people that swore on them, but if they really worked i would have the bigget freaking glutes and quads on the planet...my .02.

spot injections do nothing except put you at risk. i tried with biceps for weeks and doing that is what put me out of this game for over 15 years, i was sick of sticking needles everywhere because i listened to what i thought was body buildings clever guys of the time.

If you have a weak bodypart do 1 heavy low rep set preceeded by an isolation excercise for that body part to failure after multiple warm up sets, for example, pec dec to isolate, and then to incline presses. write down what you did and next time beat it, keep getting stronger and you will get bigger, increasing sets will hamper the situation, a weak bodypart needs more intensity not more sets, most bodybuilders overtrain.

If you have the opportunity to do static holds and negatives even better (obviously a training partner is required) but dont over do it.

above all stop thinking a needle in whatever body part is the solution, because it isn"t
