Pinning scar tissue

When I pin my quads here lately blood squirts out after I pull out the pin and bruising follows, sometimes a small welt forms too. I always push the pin in slow. Is this scar tissue I'm pinning.

This scared the sh1t out of me - my quad twitched the other day while pinning and the pin almost worked its way out and fell on the floor. The pin was facing to the ground instead of straight in the muscle. I'm guessing a hit a nerve.

yup quads can be tricky, and yes you did hit a nerve if you twitched.

I hit both mid and upper quad when pinning.. Start at about 45 degrees and aim as though you are trying to hit the bone... dont worry, you wont hit... and if you do, you definately should not be cycling.

Yea man you nicked a vein and nerve... The bruise, lump and blood is from the vein... Twitch from the nerve... No big deal just make sure you aspirate or you might pass out, I came close a while back...

I had the same twitching thing happen to me and it actually shot the pin back out. . . . The worst part is you gotta put it back in. Make sure you stay to the outside of the quad when doing injections. The femeral artery runs up the inside of your leg. I always try to stay in line with the outside of my knee and go different heights up and down the quad so not to get sore. Also what size pins you using? Bigger pins more blood. . .

I get some blood sometimes some not. But from what ur talking about it was kind of a lot. When that happened to me I pinned through a vein. Scared the shit out of me as well cause I knew I asperated (spelling) and didn't see any blood in the syringe. BUT the blood was pouring out of me pretty good, so I thought I went into a vein. Also like u said, their was a bruise a couple days later. My Mom is an RN and she looked at it and confirmed that I went through a vein. The twitching thing has never happened to me so IDK about that ?
