popliteus pain (pain behind knee)

Hello all,

new to 'Ology and was looking for some help.

I seem to be having popliteus pain, tried stretches which absolutely helps for a little while (3-4 hours) but then the pain slowly comes back.

I like to run 3-4 times per week, not sure if I will make it worse and I'm thinking maybe I should just stop until the pain is gone?

any advice is welcomed. thanks

hey man, ive had bad knee issues over the last 4 yrs or so... stretching DEFINATELY helps. ive found that working all the muscles of the legs equally has really helped my knee issues. if u dont work calves. start. it could also be that your hammies are a lil too tight , im sure u have started stretching those , but start working them . maybe that will help you out. deadlifts (all the varieties are good) , standing leg curls, squats. there is one exercise that i would advise you to stop since u are having knee pain.and im sure that a few bros will say im wrong but you can look up articles written by physical therapists saying the same thing...and that is the leg extension. it is possibly the worst, most damaging exercise there is for your knees. it puts so much stress directly on your knee ligaments and is really a movement that the knees would normally never be put in naturally. anyway, good luck with your knee pain.
