`power` bodybuilding, ever hear of it

this is what everyone has been preaching for years. not some fancy hypertrophy workout with 1000 pushdowns and 562 curls in the squat rack. big heavy compound lifts equals to strength, power and size. period. i haven't watched his chest video yet but a couple things stick out to me as bad and/or wrong. and yeah you can flame me if you want because the guy is huge, and built, but whatever. ripping the bar from the ground as fast as you can on deads? deadlifts is the only lift where shit is reversed, slow steady pull and then drop the weight down (controlled) as fast as you can. so many beginners are gonna watch this guys videos, have no clue how to deadlift, and seriously fuck their backs up. and where's the calve work? either he's not giving us the whole scoop, or this guy just is genetically blessed with good calves (notice i didn't say great). the only thing i would take from this guy, which isn't a new idea by any fucking means, is revolve your workouts around the big, basic compound lifts.

good answer! I didn't get that either when he said that for deadlifts, he said as long as the weight goes up or whatever and tried to say the weight won't hurt him he hurts the weight? lmao. but I'm pretty sure shoulders/arms and calves are to be worked other days, this is just the general workout, but I haven't read up on it too much, was just seeing what you guys thought!

Yeah thats come crap, I hate seeing these "get ripped in 12 weeks" articles. BB.com has some good articles and some crappy ones. Oh you have to follow this program exactly to the T to get the results you want... wtf? I guess he's on a 12 week cycle.

the only thing to take away from that series of videos that is useful is......... do heavy compound lifts. and the way he has his sets broken down ain't too bad either. now as far as training shoulders calves and arms go, yes calves do need to be isolated seperately. they're just not going to get hit properly doing squats and deads. however if you are overhead pressing heavy weight, your shoulders are def. getting hit. i see no need to really do side raises or front raises. and arms, those are getting hit as well on chest and back days. think what your tricep is going through to get that heavy weight up on bench and overhead presses? another thing that helps with strength, size, symmetry and overall total body development are olympic lifts! throw some snatches and hang cleans in the mix and you've got yourself a body to be proud of in a few months.
