power cleans? jerks?

can someone explain a proper power clean? i was told to start in a deadlift position, yank it up to your shoulders by turning your wrists, then pressing up like a shoulder press. is this the proper way? a better explaination would be appreciated, and the differece between this and jerks, and regular cleans. thanks.
 
i think you are right about the powerclean techineque, but start with your knees bent (somewhat squatting)
 
thanks, thats how i usually start out. is it the same as a regular clean? or is this just to the shoulders, then back down? what are some of the benefits of this excersize?
 
This is the sort of thing you need to have someone show you. Olympic lifts are real technical. See if you can find some videos online or something.
 
hmmm.....take a look around on kazaa or limewire...see if you can find some PL clips or something
 
just in point of fact, PL is powerlifting which has nothing to do with power cleans, clean and jerks, and snatches. those all belong in the category of olympic lifting.
 
hmm....i guess i was thinking of the wrong aspect as i thought powercleans were part of a powerlifters training plan...along with bench, squats, deads....
