Well my first powerlifting competition is on august 12th... its in my city, its a powerlifting gym... what should I expect... its bench/squat/deadlift... I asked him if i could just deadlift, he said i can do just the bar on bench and squat just for the overall number... my bench and squat are WEAK! im goin for 500 on dl, 350-400on squat, and maybe 250 if im lucky on bench...

Basically what should i expect, what should i bring, and am I gonna get the whole gym laughin at me with my weak ass bench?haha thanks alot.

No one is going to laugh at you. I've seen people that are so weak i'ts unreal but you give them respect for their effort. Don't just do the bar a for squats and bench. Do the whole meet, max effort, full power and get your total and then go back to the trnining rom a week later and try and improve.

For your fist lift on squats and bench, lift whatever you know you can lift and then try and get some more conservative numbers for attempts 2 & 3.

Do you do your DLs with a lot of back? I'm trying to figure out why your squat is so bad compared to your DL.

Enjoy the meet.

umm no i do conventional stance, and i have pretty good form, sit my ass down as low as i can and keep my back as straight as i can...of course on max outs you break form alot and use more back... yea i dont get why my squat sucks!

Body mechanics, some people were built to deadlift. Squat doesnt suck comparitively, your dead is just very strong comparitively. Comon man the glass is half full!

If its your first meet don't waste to much energy on worrying. It doesn't help anything. Get in your equipment and train for the meet like your at the meet. Yor first lift gets you on the board, second should be to place, and third is for PR's or winning. Either way your out there competing so fuck it, you've allready took the biggest step. And don't let "weak" lifts worry you; you never know who might be in your weight. Peolple open to high or just plain miss thier lift all the time. Lift smart and you'll be OK.

Have a good time and try and meet some new people. Your lifts are fine, you will most likely see a wide range of lifters.

Well you have to start somewhere. I you are worried about what other people think, you have failed already.

theres nothing to loose by trying. go and have fun, youll probably meet some experienced lifters who can show you some things to improve your lifts.
