Prescription Question (refills)

If I have some meds and it says "3x Refills" on the bottle, when I refill the prescription is the doctor notified in any way, or is strictly between the pharmacy and myself?

Depends on the date of the original prescription. By law, pharmacies are required to call the doc if a refill is attempted six months after the date. Typically, a prescription is written for a 30-day period (talking about long-term use of a drug). The refills are meant to be filled in successive months. Calling the doc is a necessary "check-and-balance" measure to prevent abue, misuse, or inappropriate use.

Good.

Someone (doc? insurance?) made a boo-boo and gave "my friend" a bunch of refills on his 10ml Upjohn Test Cyp vial! :)
