Protecting Liver from orals. Can we actually help our liver?

Hellos again. Another newbie question.

First of all, the more I read, the more lucky I feel after joining this community. After stopping the idiotic Var -only cycle I was told to do as "the safest first choice", I must admit I have quite some Var left. Of course, I will keep for future use, AFTER the beginner test-only cycle of course.

However, Ive been digging about it. Orals are a bit toxic to the liver. Everyone I ask, he recommends something different. Every site I search, I see different "magic liver shields". r-ALA, milk thirstle, NAC etc etc... Heck some ever mention that we just cant defend against orals and only thing we can do is respect the dosage and length of administration. Of course, never forget the pre, mid and after blood works to check liver values.

Anyways, Im talking too much....

Are those "liver shield" supps any good? What would you recommend? Anyone ever experimented?

Have you had blood work done? How about approaching it from that angle?

Hmmmm. So you are saying that the best way to be sure is to check your liver before and respect the AAS dosage/duration.
I dont like it. However, I will surely follow it. Better safe than sorry right?

Its best to have a proper overview of the entire situation, "information is everything" someone once said and the more you know the better you can proceed on your plan and achieve your goals properly. Its just the way I approach things, Just my 2cc's worth. :)

What Milton is giving you is a baseline to gain a better understanding and appreciation for the potential preventative measures one can take in preventing liver damage as many have done.

I've seen baseline values for AST/ALT and bilirubin decrease appropriately with NAC, Liv.52, and UDCA. This is how I have personally confirmed that they do work beyond the pages of a study. It's always a great idea to do the same. :)

MY protocol is as follows:
I take NAC to prevent liver issues at a dosage of 1200mgs/day on cycle. Should my liver enzymes rise out of range in spite of NAC use (which has only happened a couple times) I rely on UDCA to treat the elevated liver enzymes. I take it at 250mg/day but it can be taken in doses as high as 500mg/day.
The reason i follow the above protocol? Because Blood Work has proven that it works for me. That where the suggestions you have been given above comes in. Do your own blood work and determine for yourself what works if you like. Then you can be sure what you are doing indeed works for you.
Best of luck.

I think it's worth noting that NAC is used in medical situations dealing with acute liver failure, particularly for acetaminophen overdose. I take it on a regular basis as well. Year round supplementation at 600mg and on cycle use at 2400mg. I only go that high if i'm using orals.

And I know jimithing has mentioned this several times, NAC becomes a very powerful antioxidant in the body. This is very useful considering all the issues prolonged steroid usage can create.

I learned a lot of this from some Austinite's postings some years ago. Haven't seen a post from that guy in a long time.

Yep, Austinite is a BIG loss to this community BTC... I agree wholeheartedly...

I'd say, but I'd probably get another 2 week timeout!

lol yes u just might.

OP..I rarely do oral s but when I do it s M1t and if I go for longer than 2 -3 weeks at more than 10 mg s I m pretty sure my value s are up or over so I ...stop.
So many sides people combat when running AAS can be lessened or not even be an issue needing another med if they d lower the dose . But to each his own.
NAC, Liv52 all are good for sure...
