I am Sure you all have seen Pumping iron.

I was watching it and i see alot of weird techniques going on. (Stuff never used today anymore)

What do you guys think of Arnolds
Front Lateral Raises & Seated row

With the front lat raise he goes fast and right above his head? Does that loose tension & start using biceps..

And seated row he goes all the way forward.. For full stretch??.. and then all then more then half way back.. work more biceps?

And every exercise they do really fast.. more explosive like a power lifter.. not slow and controlled.

Whats up with that stuff?

I understand why they got to do bent over rows fast, or they pop there back out.
but other stuff is useless?

One thing I've noticed on his dumbell flies, he doesn't bring the all the way up to touch like most guys I see. Another part where Mike Katz is working out in his garage, he does single arm side lateral raises. I wondered the same thing, the range of motion are different than most of what you see today. My only guess is that this was over 30 years ago and the knowlege was a little different back then, but hey it all worked for them.

I think form is incredibly important to almost everyone. Almost. With their natural ability and genetics they can do the exercises with poor form and still make incredible gains. I remember Dorian Yates saying that he could just walk by a rack of dumbbells and gain 5lbs. of muscle. Bastards.

5lbs. of muscle "drooooool"
I suppose all the juice they were taking would still make them grow.

Dorian Yates is known for his impecable form. Pick up a Muscular Development magazine and read his "blood and guts" column.

you gotta find what works for you and whats been tried and tested to always work.form is pretty important when your going for a certain look and result for muscle groups.I like the movie by the way I wish they would do another one for this generation of lifters.

Yeah that would be awesome.

I would have to agree.
These guys have extraordinary genetics.
Back in the day training was not as sophisticated as it is now yet they produced amazing physiques.
They were indeed the cream of the crop.

Arnold, Zane- outstanding by all standards for their time.

It is sad to see BB morph away from those lines. It is still amazing to see warriors like
Branch, Kai, Phil Heath, Cuttler be the benchmark of todays physique.

It is surprising how far the sport has come. Where will it top out at?

The sport of bodybuilding is in a very unhealthy state right now. Going further would only make things worse. Besides that Arnold did many so called cheat movements in his workouts which allowed him to personally increase intensity and weight. It can be as effective and even more effective than perfect form. Try it out, its all about explosive rhythm.
