pwo insulin spike

as of this spring, i stopped spiking my insulin post workout and either ate a meal or had a protein shake about an hour to two hours after working out. so far the results have been excellent compared to when i used to spike my insulin. my strength is as high as its ever been(except for squats and deads due to herniated discs) and i look the best i ever have. i am finally around 17% maybe less bodyfat. overall i feel that way too much emphasis is placed on pwo, and that you need to try things out oin your own instead of sticking to the book. i cant explain this, but i have not been on a cycle in over a year so it definately wasnt AAS. can anyone explain this?

I think my advice falls on deaf ears most of the time but this is what i've been saying for a long time. Just eat a damn meal.

You switching to a regular meal most likely had nothing to do with your strength gains (more then likely it was you lifted for another year). The reduction in bodyfat was due to you not having that high insulin levels.

what i meant was that even after losing about 20-25 lbs i still gained strength, whereas i was always used to losing some. the meal thing definately does my body better, and i also noticed that you can eat pretty much anything postworkout with protein, i keep it low on the carbs though to suit my goals.

Nothing beats a real meal, especially post workout. Some rice, chicken and a coke will boost your gains more than any shake could. However, if you want fatloss, you obviously will want to keep insulin down.

How about just taking some Leucine immediately pwo, then a normal meal? I know leucine increases insulin but surely not to the extent that carbs do?

Yeah if your waiting 1 - 2 hours after your workout to eat a meal or shake (to long imo), I would say you should really get in a low/zero carb whey protein shake in asap pwo. Or at least take a BCAA mix in some water ASAP PWO. Then you can still eat your meal 1 - 2 hours later.

why? you cant just say that without reason. i do what i do because it works better than that from my experience.

I suggested the low/zero carb shake so you wouldn't be spiking you insulin to much after the workout which I thought you were against? At least you would be feeding your muscles protein right after your workout instead of waiting 60 - 120 minutes. And you would still be hungry for your meal PPWO if all you consumed was a thin shake PWO.

i just wanted to know your reasoning. just shows that there is nothing set in stone. this just happens to work for me
