Question about reps

When trying to put on size, is it better to do the good old fashioned start with 15 rep warmup for 4 sets and go 12,10,8,6 reps and going up in weight each rep? Or should it be done backwards where you warm up with 15, but start heavy at 6 and keep going lighter each set until you get to 12...(on something like incline dumbel bench)

This month's issue of MuscleMag had a routine like that in there and they said it works better when trying to put on size. Whats your input?

I was always taught low reps heavy weight for mass and low weight high reps to tone up. I've been using the pyramid style like u said in your first statement for a while and I've put on over 15pds, but also eating a lot along with it. Started the 5x5 routine yesterday tho gonna give it a shot

And always keep your body guessing. Change your routine up and do different workouts.

Nothing like changing things around and leaving the gym barely able to put your arm on the steering wheel lol

how often should you change the routine up?

I prefer to go 3 months max! Of course ill throw a new 1-3 day workout in once a month to keep things interesting. Basically, you have to listen to your body and watch your gains physically and strength wise. As long as your gaining at a fair pace, stick with it!

I do 1-3 warm up sets with higher reps then i go to low reps (6-8) as max till i cant anymore (many sets and i last about 40min per muscle being focused on) works well for me. also dont workout everyday 3-4days a week. I go eod (2-3) on or off cycle. most seem to overdo it. you grow when resting not in gym.
