Question for the docs about eq

I have seen on the boards, and i just read somthing about the dangers of running too much eq, something like 600-800mg per week, and how it increases your red blood cell count to dangerous levels and can cause strokes and other problems. Now my question is, is this realistic, i mean people use eq at extremely high doses for extremely long periods of time and i have never heard or read about anyone having a problem. A little imput from you medical proffesionals and anyone else with some imput.

A very good question........

I think that all steroids increse your RBC count, but to the same effect as EQ, I'm not sure.

In addition to RBC, how about hemogloban, does that also rises with use?

Also what can you do to correct the problem, donating blood...if so how much and how often ??

I'll post my blood data from the last 1.5 yrs, as you can see both my HGB & RBC have risen considerably, with HGB now being above normal

RESULTS..............July 02...........Jan 03..........Aug 03.............Norm

Well when I went in to have my sinus surgery about 6 weeks ago they ran a blood test and the doc was kind of freaked out by the way my RBC came out. I had been off for over 4 weeks at the time but he just suggested that I donate some blood. He did go on to explain that serious complications could occure if left unchecked.

RBC

I can not comment on what EQ will do to your CBC however if your RBC gets too high and remains high for a long period of time, it could cause your blood to clot in smaller arteries and cause a cerebral hemerage or stroke. The odds are very slim and none that this would happen to a young man but it is possible. Giving blood once a month is never a bad idea.

PS

soooo...what would we say a good dose of eq would be to run for 16 weeks for an old man as me with issues as it is..i am runnin500 a week right now of PL's stuff...

400 mg/wk should suffice most people. When I was on eq, I noticed that my blood is thick. When I jabbed myself I bled and it ran down my leg so slow and it was dark red.

bump for buffdoc.

As has been stated, all Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) can increase the hematocrit, or percentage of the blood that is red blood cells (RBC's). EQ has a reputation for doing this as well; not sure if any studies show it's any worse than the others.
At any rate, the problem is one of viscosity, or thickness of the blood. More hemoglobin is good, meaning more oxygen delivery to the tissues, UP TO A POINT. After that optimal point is reached, there are diminishing returns.
Why? Because blood flow is inversely proportional to blood viscosity. And if flow decreases, so does O2 delivery to the tissues, no matter HOW much hemoglobin is on board.
Usually, around 45 is an optimal male hematocrit, but this will vary somewhat based on other variables.
If the hematocrit is too high, blood donation is a simple way to remedy the problem.
Inflammation in the blood stream, due to multiple problems, may also influence viscosity; RBC's may stack up like plates (rouleaux formation). Dehydration is another common cause of increased viscosity.
Another good reason to have labs checked regularly.
Forewarned is forearmed, bros!!
As to doses, it will vary individually. 300 might really increase one guys RBC's, and 600 not so much for another. LABS!

Buffdoc, you said blood donation would be a good thing.

I use very heavy cycles, I cant donate the the red cross, so where could I get rid of some blood???
