raw bench set up and bench.

i'm dumb, but also kind of new here, where are the clips? I can't find them here on ology, are they on a different site? thx

hahaha, i am dumb!! i looked at the thread but went to the last post and didn't see any new vids, i didn't realize you just edit your original post.
THANKS!

PB his elbows are still out, its just not possible IMO to bring them far in without going way low on the chest which with raws seems near impossible without missing the lift. I dont do the stretch like he does, I just push off the top of the bench, otherwise my leg setup is currently about the same, and just about everything else.

impossible? bro i see it everytime i bench.

its true you dont come down as far on the belly in raw benching but it is still lower than most people bench. even raw benching i bring the bar down well below my nipples. you can see in the clips kyle is hitting at the top of his belly.

his elbows are tucked at the bottom mudge. they tuck at the the bottom and flair at the top. i can see it no prob in these two clips

there is another video the 525x5 which is filmed from a different angle so you can see the the tuck better there.

you must be confused on something. tuck at the bottom, flair at the top.

no way to get your legs far enough under you without sliding up the bench then back down after planting your feet. this also helps to get the arch needed to shorten the stroke.

get to a bench seminar or find some guys who know how to bench. these clips are helpful but nothing beats one on one in person with someone who has the experince.

if you ever do get a shirt you gonna have to learn to bench this way. esp if you go with a dbl ply open back. if you get a single ply poly closed back you can bench more of the old style but thats about the only shirt that will allow it.

the reason we bench so low with shirts on is because there is no way the bar will ever touch benching high on the chest. plus by going low the elbows are not bent as much so the lock out is easier.

to strengthen the delts for low benching we do pitch and catch board presses. best shoulder work there is, bar none.

btw after all the volume work yesterday kyle hit 615x3 his last set on shirt work. hes weighing around 230 right now, 23 years old.

No I got that, its just that I dont see it. I bring my elbows in about as much as I feel I can, but I need an overhead shot to see whats going on...

Obviously I will take your word for it :D I just can't see it from the side, when I watch shirted people do it I can see it, there is a lot of angle from the elbow to the wrist.

after watching those vids I think i'm going to try to setup more like that. See if I can't get my legs just right, maybe I'll take a vid of my current setup procedure and see what it looks like.
Anyway, good vids as usual pullin

ill get a shot next bench session from his feet on raw warm ups. its fairly subtle, deffinatley not exagerated but it dont take much of a tuck to envolve the lats and tris at the bottom. the dbl denim shirts force your elbows in so its a given on those. watch the clips a few more times and youll see it. imagine his arms being flaired at the bottom and then see the differnce.

That makes sense, because the difference is noticeable...

watch kyle doig the 525x5 you cna see he is having probs getting his hands out to the rings. the shirt pulls you arms in. the sleeves are alomst cut into the chest plate.

I am loving this setup, thanks PB for posting. I used to do it similar to how McVicar did, in that he pretty much stayed on the bench. Going further back into the bench, and then coming off it seems to get a better arch for me, maybe because I am taller than Greg.

since we are talking about benching i almost never hear anything about the descent of the bar..slow and controlled yes but my question is what muscles should be used in bringing the bar down i assume you wanna keep the tricep strength for pushing and the lockout..its not a negative rep correct?
