Hello everyone. I'm new to this board and had a couple of questions. I lifted from around 13 years of age till around 26. I have cycle experience from 23-25. I left weightlifting when work, family and life became too busy.
I am now an old man of 36 years. I have been back lifting for 8 months and have regained a majority of the strength I had when I was younger. I am currently benching close to 400, squating 605 for a double and can pull around 575.
I am eager to get back into cycling in hopes of competing in some powerlifting, strong man, and scottish highland games events.
My main question is since I am older, my joints have turned to absolute shit. Every week it seems some new pain occurs. I worked through a pulled pec two months ago. Had bicep tendonitis for about 5 weeks. Now my outer elbow/tricep hurts. It's taken some time to recover and work around these injuries.
Like I stated earlier that I'm eager to get back into heavier lifting and competition, but should I wait until my ailments have subsided to begin cycling, or since I'm older is this just stuff I'll have to deal with on a permanent basis?
Funny thing is I had a L5-S1 back fusion when I was 30 and I can squat without pain, it's my damn elbows, shoulders, and pec insertion causing me issues.
I apologize for the long winded post and appreciate the help and information.
