Does changing up the rep speed to emphasize either the eccentric or concentric have a huge effect on training? Just looking for some experienced lifters opinions here, as I myself have a hard time focusing on rep speed. I always thought that concentrating on the negative is good every once in a great while, but otherwise is not necessary, as it will limit the overall amount of poundage you can do, thus preventing hypertrophy. I was always told to go as heavy as possible without sacrificing form, does this way of training contradict that, or am I not understanding its purpose (more than likely that is what it is)?
