I know switching your training routine is a must, but how much variation? I catch myself doing crazy freestyle workouts that always include your core compound movements squats, bentover rows, skull crushers and so fourth but sometimes i wander if i need to get a set plan and stick with it for a few weeks. What do u guys suggest for a natural athlete ?

I Have been training right (sleep, diet, correct training) for the past 4 years. I have been doing all the key elements of weight training for 4 years. The previous years before were lost to being young and unexperienced without proper diet and researching the field of bodybuilding.

If whatever you are doing is working, then you certainly don't have to change it.

Do you use bands? If not, give 'em a try. Theres some variation for 'ya.

you can do practically the same workout for the rest of your life. All you need to change are the excersizes, and increase in weight and/reps each workout. The Weider "shock the body" idea is horseshit.

Just get a good 3-day a week workout going, based around solid lifts like incline bench, decline bench, dips, chins, rows, military press, deadlifts, and squats, and as long as your diet is in check and youre increasing in weight and/or reps each workout, youll see what you want to see. Also avoid overtraining. No need for 5+ sets per bodypart....do a few warmup sets, knock out 2-3 intense sets per bodypart and call it a day.

Thats a great post and point !! I see alot of big ole boys come in the gym bang out a few sets and then go over to the side and eat chicken rice !! Appreciate the feedback.
