I have been adding some cardio to my weightlifting routine, to get ready for some military training, and Ive noticed that every time I run I cough afterwards (bad) I thought it might be due to running outside (cold air) But it happens when I run on a treadmill too. Anyone got any ideas whats goin on?

it happens to me.. but i smoke so thats why i cough, but it could be that you dont breathe right when you run, or that you hav a cold... how long, how fast, how far, etc do you run?

It could be the result of maybe not running or doing cardio in a while (just your body readjusting to the different training)...also, try eating something after your run, like a good quality protein bar that has both carbs and protein...Also, get plenty of rest...You may even have an allergy of some type, although I'm not sure if that'll affect your indoor running...is it a wheezing cough? Do you struggle to breathe afterwards?? Could be exercise-induced asthma...

I run 2 miles at a time. (every other day). Its not a wheezing cough, its more of a deep cough. And it usually goes away later in the day.

Exercise Induced Bronchoconstriction (aka exercise induced asthma). Talk to your doctor about it......rarely, if ever, serious, but it is an annoyance. It's just caused by the air passages and smooth muscle contracting after exercise when they're dried out from the increased airflow - could be due to the cold, dry air, or simply your body's natural response.

may be asthma, but you say your not weezing so I question it. I have terrbile asthma but I weeze like an acordian, seriously
