Safe age to try gear?

I've heard all kinds of things in regards to when it's safe to try gear for the first time. Personally I was that dumb high school kid who started way too early so what is the earliest someone should jump on a cycle? :insane2:

In your opinion is that when they should cycle without someone overseeing their progression or when they're mature enough to cycle unsupervised?

I agree with Dawg. It's just as much about mental maturity as it is about physical maturity. If someone has been training since they were 15 and has reached their genetic potential and has had a spot on diet for the last 4 years, then sure... 21-22 seems reasonable. This would be a select few though. Seems to me like 24-25 is reasonable because that's around the time most T levels begin to drop and people stop seeing natural gains. It's also around that time our mental and cognitive functions are fully developed so we are better able to understand the discipline and commitment required.

supervision depends on knowledge . 90% of the peo;ple who cycle do NOT know what the hell they are doing.

Very true.

From what I've seen PCT is where most guys say f-it and then wonder why they get nasty sides.

i see hundreds of newbies come on these boards every year with a totally worthless cycle plan that their " buddy " swears by and they dont really want advice , they just want someone to brag on their cycle.
90% of the time they are to lazy to research , to lazy to work out and dont want to quit partying . they just want to throw steroids at it so they look good for the girls.

I'm sure the MTV Show "True Life: I Use Steroids" or whatever it was called didn't help either. I remember watching that and just shaking my head. Horrible.

20 if you are going to step on a stage and compete. do shows, be a real BB er, the next 20yrs of this guy's life will be on the pin.

23.5 for all others.

Mysterious internet woman has caused lust at first site lol This thread is officially dead.

All of your answers were great but I'd have to agree with gymrat. If someone is going to dedicate their life to something then younger isn't always bad however if you're not training hard without gear you won't train hard with it so additional maturity is needed.

True Life: I Use Steroids was a load of shit. They need to remake that and use people who KNOW what they're doing. They copped out and made it seem like steroids were the reason of their son's death and the reason the gay dude was having thoughts of suicide.

Both of them would be labeled as clinically depressed in a psychological evaluation. Nothing to do with the roids. They were just unstable mentally. And none of them worked out like they should. It sucked ass. The one guy on there who did have a decent body was using steroids to lift like 200 pounds on the press machine and curl like 150 barbell. Pathetic.

I think I was 16 when I saw that for the first time and thought, Woah that guy has some size to him then when they showed him lifting though, hey I lift more than that and I'm 16 lol.

The gay dude's parents didn't love him enough or daddy loved him too much so he craved attention and thought using juice and bragging about it would give him that attention.

The kid who hung himself was depressed definitely and after seeing his father in "bigger stronger, faster" I can't help but think his parents acceptance was the reason he tried juice and then when he still couldn't get his father's respect as a man he ultimately took his own life. The dad definitely has issues.

Juice is one of the best things made. It makes everyone look and perform better, but like all good things there's nay sayers who have successfully gotten it banned. Political bullshit if you ask me.

I think 16's the perfect age to try creatine lol. I definitely think after 22 and after doing a ton of research for about a year. Active participation on sites like this are crucial for anyone that wants to try gear.

The guy on trying out for the fitness magazine on true life seemed like he relied on gear too much. You could tell when he went back to natural training he was complaining a lot. I think 100% dedication on cycle or off needs to be there.

When I did my first cycle i regret in a way, but being on this site and learning so much and etc has helped me alot. This is why im been dieting and training harder and dieting in a way i thought i never would. Can't wait till my cycle for the summer my age will be questioned about(21) , but this cycle that some may know about will be my last till im 25. I already have everything ill just train natty and diet for another 7 months
