Serious Pain

hi guys,

Just did an arm workout yesterday. it was really nothing special or to heavy either. literally 45lb-50lb weights. Anyways i woke up at about 230 this morning with an intense pain in both my biceps (lower region) and the forearm muscle where bicep meets(opposite the elbow). I mean intense! i can't physically straighten my arms because the pain is so bad. However i am in no discomfort when my elbows are bent.

Any Ideas what this is?

I would definitely stay away from any bicep or back exercises where you bend your arm that way until you have no more pain. Work on light stretching until it feels better.

is your urine clear? if it's darker, like tea or cola colored, you have a problem. it might just be pretty sever doms otherwise.

What's your experience training ? The first thing recommended would be to REST copletely from the weights, (focus on legs) once u feel better u can resume training, but monitor yourself, if u feel pain again, stop..
It could be something serious, like a tear, but, typically elbow pain is caused by injured tendons..and is either called (Tennis or Golfer's elbow) (which I suffer from) and it is mainly caused by torque forces on the elbow and forearm..

It's not "necessarily" due to the weight your lifting, but rather due to "bad lifting form"..
before my Gulfer's elbow was as seviere as now, just taking time off usually resolved the issue, so allow yourself some rest time, but if the problem presists go see a sports doctor..

As an immediate treatment u can do now to relieve the pain, u can: Put ice 10 min on, 10 off for an hour , wrap a compression bandage around it, this helps with the swelling & if the swelling is pretty bad, keeping the arm elavated helps too..

If it continues to worsen the doctor might need to inject corticosteroids..
Hope this helps

I"ve been suffering with "tennis elbow" the last few months and its a bitch . Got it doing upright rows which I dont do too often , now any kind of pulling exercise aggravates it ......I"m in my 3rd week of no back/bicep work and thats killing me not working out , no problem with pushing exercises like benches or presses.....Doc said rest ,Icey Hot and NSAIDS , and more rest, and "wait&see"......goodluck ~Bo

Has anyone tried "TommieCopper" compression sleeves ??? Thinking of ordering an elbow sleeve....

bo i would use a sleeve after it has healed but not while it is still healing, even if it makes it possible to pull with no pain at all.
