Servere Forearm Pain

I have a severe pain in the middle of my right forearm when lifting straight bar curls. I get it in both arms, but it's more prevailent in my right arm. It's a pain that has always been there since I started lifting and it goes away from time to time. It's definately not a muscle pain, it feels more like a joint pain, but in the middle of my forearm. Feels like the bone wants to break in half. Just about any exercise causes it to hurt, but the worst one is definately straight bar curls.

I was curling 100 lbs 3x6 and was doing well enough to where I considered bumping up to 110 lbs, but then the pain started again when lifting 100 lbs ... and now I can barely finish my second set.

I was told from a female body builder that she used to get it and said it was growing pains and to tough it out. Today I worked out nothing but forearms, thinking that maybe they are weak and need their own day.

Any suggestions?

P.s. I'd like to beat people to the obvious jokes:
1. No it doesnt not affect my masturbation
2. no it is not a cause from it.
3. Basically, I got called a pussy by a female, agreed.

Ok, now you are free to reply... :)

1) Well, that's good.
2) How are you SURE that waxing willie the white snake doesn't cause it?
3) I agree too.

I used to have that problem every time I did curls, no matter what the weight, and it did eventually go away like she told you it would. Right in the middle of the forearm, if the pain is internal, would be the interosseous membrane between the radius and ulna - it's very possible that yours is inflamed or injured and doing curls aggravates it.

If the pain gets too bad, by all means take some time off of doing the exercises that hurt it. You don't want to do anything to make it worse.

sounds like tendonitus to me. take a month off from curling. i havent curled in over two years. why cause i had the same prob. my arms are bigger now than they were when i quit curling.

1 question - Does it affect masturbation???

Nono, but seriously, I'd advise you take time off the curls. A while back I developed tendonitus in my right elbow from doing too many curls. (At the time, that's all I was really doing. Stupid me).

Tendinitis? I'm just curious, but what tendons are in there that are likely to be inflamed? I mean, it could be up around the origin of one of the muscles acting on the hand/wrist, but in the middle of the forearm??

I'm not trying to be a smartass, I really am curious as to what this would be if it was tendinitis, in case I see this problem later on in my school or career.

I have a friend who had pain in his right forearm. he went to doc, they x ray and found a slight fracture mid way his forearm. curls did not bother it though, it was the heavy benching that bothered it. he first noticed it when he changed his grip. he went from a medium grip to a wide grip.

Bone infection, most ppl get it somewhere in there training career, take away straight bar curls and set in hammer curls and dumbell curls ONLY for some time, might do some cabel curls also.
Good luck bro.

This post is dead on. When I do hammer curls or dumbell curls, I am fine. Rotating the position of my forearm changes everything. Next time i visit the doctor i'll mention it. I wouldnt be suprised if I had a hair line fracture.

Oh yeah, here's another characteristic ... if I do straight bar curls or preacher curls, if I release my grip of the bar too fast after resting the weight, my forearms want to explode, even my wrist. I have to rest the weight and release my fingers slowly.

I had the same problem, and it was soley due to preacher curls. Cut them out completely, or replace them with dumbells. I went from being in constant pain to no pain at all just from eliminating barbell/EZ Curl bar preachers from my routine
