Shit I Tore my Pec in the Gym tonight

Well it never fails when you start making gains something is there to push you back.
I went in the gym feeling ok started with flat bench warm up 1 set 135 then set of 15x225 then set of 10x275 and aset of 10x315 then I threw 405x1 felt good no problem so I thought I would hit a lighter set for reps 335 I pushed 4 taking it down and slight pause to get a good stretch well maybe to good then I here this rip and the weight is sitting on my chest. I heard and felt it Damn what a wierd feeling I guess I was in shock for a few minutes I just sat around thinking mybe I just pulled a muscle You could see under my right arm a knot about the size of a pingpong ball and it was kinda hard. So I threw some ice on it and went to the Dr. he said looks like about 1 in tear and should heal fine I will just need to take it easy for 3-4 weeks and work it back slow. He gave my some muscle relaxers because the torn muscles kept going into spasms. Well I just thought I'd get a little off my chest tonight.

saint, good luck in recovery bro, sorry to hear that, way to vent though, you need to let it out. Was it painful?

It really doesn't hurt much I do have a high tolerence for pain but it feels warm and aches. The sound of the rip is what sticks in your head I'll take a few weeks off and use machines to maintain then see how it feels. Thanks guys as Arnold would say I'll be Back
 
it sounds like a wet paper towel being torn, if i amnot mistaken. Sorry to hear that man, i know how injuries fuck shit up. Get better.
 
Done it, just like that brotha.. It will heal back fine. Just keep it stretched and the range of motion up. You don't want it to heal up tight with scar tissue or you can rip it again.

Pec injects helped it immensly.
 
Speedy recovery bro. I tore a bicep a few years ago, it was a big pop. It never recovered fully (looks) but it did recover.:)
 
That is crazy that this happened to you because I had problems tonight too. I only bench every other chest workout and for the last few weeks I have been doing the same thing, warm-up, build up to just about as far as I can then strip it down to 315 for as many as I can. My last heavy set of one was fine, then on about my ninth rep on my final set I felt something weird. It almost feels like a bad cramp and it spasms also. Tonight was my left side last time my right. I am going to take it easy for a few weeks because I do not want to tear mine. My right was better tonight then I hurt my left. I think it is just strained but I am going to play it safe. When you are doing good w/ the weight it is always hard to let up.

Thanks I hope not also, if so I'll look into a little p-surgery to clean it up. Knowing you can't work out sucks
Thanks for the support guys Today is the first day I can really start seeing the blue and yellow bruising, feels tight I hope due to being in good shape and eating right and taking the right supplements I will have a full recovery within 4 mths that still will give me time to get ready for JR. Nationals 2004. I'll just need to work hard and smart and not let the weight fool me again. Shit this sucks I already feel depressed every time I think about it much less I can't quit looking at it
