short pins

I'm woundering what the problems are in using a short needle. I've used insulin pins to inject into the glute because that was all I had and it seemed to work alright. ( I made sure to push fairly hard into the glute for as much penetration as I could get) I'm not in disagreement in what you say, I'm just woundering if I'm not getting the full benifit, if it takes longer to absorb, or if it's something different altogether that is the problem.

If you dont go deep into the muscle you risk abcess, go deep and inject slowly.

the oil will not be absorbed as well if at all if it is not injected INTO the muscle

Some of these have already been stated but:
1. If you don't inject IM the oil will not be properly absorbed and you risk acquiring a subcutaneous bolus of oil which can become a sterile abcess.

2. I can't even imagine how long it would take to inject through a 29 or 30g needle.

3. Most slin syringes are 0.5mL, so your volume is severly reduced.
