Just wondering.....

When I do some tricep exercises, I can hear crackling in my elbow joints. I just dont want my joints to wear out because of this. I dont want arthritus either.

Thanks.

Also, will glucosamine stop or help the crackling sounds?

i stopped paying attention to the cracking sounds a long time ago....then now i have bad knees...

my shoulders do it very badly when doing press movements for the chest..i can actually feel something in my shoulder everytime it pops.

Ditto. Now I've got chondromalacia and/or tendonitis. Both of which I can directly attribute to smith squats instead of simply doing real squats. Now, it hurts like a bitch to squat, but I get it done anyway (3 sets of 5 @ 350 today, box squats halfway ATF/Parallel, like normal). That's also why my squat numbers are so low in comparison to my bench/dead #'s.

Glucosamine can help, MSM and Chondriotin too. Those last two help to stimulate production of the synovial fluid that cushions and lubricates the joints. (Useless tidbit of information: a joint with properly lubricating synovial sacs has a coefficient of friction of ~.01)

Could you translate that in good 'ol English................:D

All that means is that just because two things happen together that it does not mean that one caused the other.

Like you can buy a TV and have a heart attack - buying the TV was correlated with having a heart attack, but it was not the cause.

Actually, in this case, correlation does establish causation, because the crackling/popping of joints does mean that something is wrong. If there is crackling of the joints, that means that A) they are not articulating properly (i.e. the chondromalacia in my knees), or that (B) there are air pockets in the joints that will eventually cause degeneration of the cushioning tissues in that joint.

I'm not convinced...did the person do any running? Running and squatting? Running every day? Running on pavement? Bad shoes? Bad running form? Lack of good diet? Bad form on the squat? Using knee wraps incorrectly, etc?

haha, i did not squat as a wee one...i used to play alot of soccer and field lax....i did use to do leg press alot as well as leg extensions and ham curls..had a trainer show me how to do those when i started out...

The exact same thing happens to me when I do triceps except its not really a crackling, it's more like a clicking action. It usually only happens on skull krushers though.

Yeah, clicking. I know its hard on my elbows, I just know it.

think i'll stay out of this one.

Aww come on PB. If an exercise is causing a repeated clicking, crackling noise, do you think in the long run it will cause damage?

Im guessing it would, but im not certain. I guess I will look into some supplements and see if they help at all, but if they dont help, maybe I will try new exercises that dont cause the noise and possible damage.

fuck it man. everything these days can cause problems in the future. im sure lifting weights as heavy as you guys do is hard as shit on the body as it is. just do it if you enjoy it. lifes short anyways
