There are many who struggle with getting good sleep. This can have devastating health consequences. These sort of sleep disturbances can powerfully affect a number of your key hormones. Apnea, for example, lowers testosterone by about 30-35% on average and about a couple dozen other things as well.

SLEEP ISSUES CAN AFFECT YOUR BEDROOM PERFORMANCE
Studies have shown that less sleep means higher insulin and inflammation levels. Sleep is also when your brain performs memory consolidation and replenishes those all important neurotransmitters. Lack of sleep will create dopamine dysfunction: see my link on Sleep and Dopamine for some of the research. So I don't need to go on and on - I'm sure you get the idea: yes, that time on the pillow is just as important to your long term health as the time when you are awake.

Now the medical profession has gotten their arms around some key things that can really disturb sleep and cause insomnia or nighttime wakefulness. Unfortunately, they also have ignored or missed many key issues that can plague men.

First, let's cover how you can monitor your sleep and then below we will discuss easy solutions that can really make a difference.

HERE ARE SOME KEY QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF?

Definitely can vouch for this one. I <3 my Darth Vader mask, as I was waking up multiple times per minute due to apnea. I wish more men would get this checked.

Excellent article as always!

I'm having issues going to sleep early at night.
on TRT a few weeks now after failed restart.
was ok for first few weeks going to bed and feeling sleepy at a reasonable time. A couple weeks now. I notice more and more dont feel sleepy till 4 AM.
very likely my adrenals got messed up after restart. ..this came on more and more as time went by with Low Test.

Are you saying you can't get to sleep? I noticed when I dosed HCG in the am I couldn't get to sleep later that night. I dose at night now and have no problems. I'm sure it could be a whole host of things but that was my issue.

Fwiw

I have a cpap aswell and am lean. I was curious what you think created the need for increased pressure

I was told that sometimes our brain can have a short circuit, causing it to forget to breathe. Remember though, you don't have to be obese to get apnea; men with certain palate sizes or other structures of the jaw/neck can too - even when lean.

Your doctor should be able to help you identify which of those you fall under. Mine's supposedly the brain one, but they're not certain.

Could be my adrenals. I find I get energetic after lying down after working out. Feel sleepy after working out and could fall asleep at 8:30 but I wake up after a brief recharge. Then feel sort if wired till 3-4AM. Sometimes 5 a.m.

It does seem that you misunderstood my question. You said you had to increase the pressure on the machine and that is what I was asking about.

Ohhhhhhhh! I did totally forget about that as it has been some time. I was still waking up tired after 8 hours of sleep, so I looked up how to manually change it. I increased it from 11 to 14, which helped, but I have switched it back since then and am fine. I believe I had it higher for only a few months.

Hope that helps. :)

Edit: I switched it back as I was waking up due to the CPAP forcing air OUT my mouth while I slept. It's a funky feeling, but subsided once I lowered it back down.
