I just sprain my ankle. Its sucks. No squat no deads no power cleans. Any body else here sprain there ankle and how long did it take to come back to those excercises. I am thinking of working out the upper body not sure yet. I just sprain it no tears, breaks, or dislocation. Just a baseball on the side of the ankle, which is almost gone but just feels sore. Any body else experience this and did you rebond back good? :(

took me about 4 weeks when i sprained my ankle it took about 2-3 weeks to heal and another 1-2 weeks before i felt comfortable on my ankle to go ahead and squat but my ankle was purple and all that other good stuff but i came back fine its a just sprain so i wouldnt worry about it too much nothing major

apparently you already went to a doctor/trainer, somebody about this, since you know it isn't broken. My advice would be start rehab on it as soon as you can, just little stuff at first, and gradually work back up to weight bearing and full range of motion stuff. If it is just a grade 1 or 2 sprain, then you should be back up and squatting in about 3-4 weeks. Don't worry though if it takes you a little longer to get back to where you were before; everybody heals at a different rate.

I did that 3 years in a row in football. I was always back on the field within a few days.

Ice it twice a day for 20-30 minutes, take ibuprofen, and stay off of it completely for a few days. Good luck.

I sprained each ankle 4 times, and dislocated my shoulders each 3 times and im in perfect condition. I was a very active and rough kid lol.

i did the same thing nearly two monthes ago. i satyed off it completey for two weeks. than went bck to the gym. im jyust now comfortable running on it slowly. it sucks man but some heal beter than others.

Well, you can function with a sprained ankle, you just have to learn to fight through the pain. My junior year of high school, I sprained my right ankle (2nd degree sprain, BTW) in the final play of a football game. I proceeded to run cross country (at least 3 miles per day in practice) and play football, never missing a practice, meet, or game. I just had it taped up, put a brace on it, gritted my teeth, and went for it. It all just depends on your personal pain tolerance and willingness to suffer some.
