everyone nereds to train raw at least 50% of the time, squats, bench and dead. gear dont make a lifter strength does. all this talk about this suit is better than that suit and so on is sad. the top lifters will still hit big numbers in what ever they wear. some wear poly, some wear denim and some wear canvas. but they all hit big numbers. one thing the top lifters have in common is brute strength.
i fully believe raw squats should be carried well past parallel as well. why? cause once you add a belt, wraps, trainer, suit, etc...... each one of these hnders depth. so if you squatting parallel raw whats gonna happen when you add gear? ill tell you what. 3 red lights. =0l
squatting raw requires a narrower stance as well to prevent groin injuries. it also makes getting deep much easier as the groin is used less. i squat medium stance raw but once i suit up ill spread it out 6" or so. i am definatley stronger wide but I use my head to prevent injury when raw. i have also found that raw squatting builds more leg strength than geared squatting. (narrower stance, less support)
too many guys become "gear dependant" way to early. take them out of a suit and they cant even train correctly. sad.
you guys already knew how i felt about raw work though.
