i m a right hander andu can say that i m very weak with my left hand..even shifting car brakes is a heculean task for me lolz :)

but in the gym it is fine..i can do dumb bell curls pretty easily and i m getting good results ever since i started 4.5 yrs back..
but the only prob is that when i take the measuring tape in my hand , i get a shocker..
my right biceps measures 16.6 inches these days whereas the left biceps is only 16 inches ... i tried that idea of doing 2-3 extra reps with the left arm but that hasnt helped much... :(
what do u guyz say..is this just cuz of natural growth potential or what??

and yeh... i did triceps yesterday and since then my right hand elbow is hurting like shitt.. signs of tennis elbow or what..
i usually get this pain when i do triceps but the pain goes away in a couple of hours.. but this time its been there for around 36 hours..
any cure... apart from resting ..

tomorrow is monday and i need to do chest tomorrow..

bye
thnx

That is pretty normal. I always lead off with my left arm, so that if I do 7 reps with my left in good form, I am only doing 7 in good form with my right - not 10 reps in good form with my right, and 7 in good form with my left and then 3 shitty ones.

I feel ya bro. Right arm measures a dead even 17" and the left is lucky to hit 16.1."

I used to try both of those methods and nothing worked, so I finally just decided that that's the way I'm genetically designed to be. The discrepancy hasn't changed any no matter how I've grown (i.e. Right was 14" the left was 13", 15&14, etc.), so I don't believe I can actually change it. Visually, there's no difference for some reason though, just with the tape.

And the "can't even shift a car brake with the left hand" is due to a lack of neuromuscular control/interaction on that side of the body. I'm the same way with that too, but really the only way to correct it is to start trying to use your left arm exclusively for a while. You'd be shocked at how quick the brain and neurological interactions will pick up. When I broke the right (dominant) arm back in high school, I had to learn to write, wipe my ass, etc. with the left........... I could barely do anything with it at first, but by the time I was able to use the right again for those tasks, I'd become better with the left than I ever was with my right. Pity I didn't stick with the ambidexterity though.

Also, in theory, the body will use the same set of movements for a given action, regardless of the bodypart used. In essence, you'll use the same movements to write your name if you tried to write holding the pen in your right foot as if it was in your right hand -- the only difference is the neurological control of the area. Same holds true with using your left arm/hand for certain actions.

ahhh thnk u mudge n spike... :)
pretty good to know that i m not the only one

but shitt my elbow is hurting like shit even today..and i have to do chest workout in 1 hrs time.. :) cant skip gym on a mondayyyyyy :D

I would simply try an extra set for the left arm... do it for 3 months and see what happens.. I also do what Mudge does and start out with my weak arm on all dumbell exercises...the set ends when the weak arm does....
