Steroids and your liver...propaganda/BS?

I am looking for some info from our resident chemists, about the effects of steroids on your liver. I know about certain oral steroids being a 17AA steroid and can have quite an impact on your liver while it processes the lovely chemicals. My question is, how come Dr's and researchers tell people that AS is very harmful on your liver, especially thru continued use without cycling, but these assholes have absolutely no problem keeping people on medications indeffinitely until the day they die? My dad has been on morphine and probably 4 other fucking medications, for almost four years non stop and not once has the Dr. told him to take time off from the meds to give his liver a break. And the doses of some meds are around 150mgs per tablet, three times a day because the body can only absorb so much of the medication. I have been researching Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) for a year and a half now and I have come to the conclusion that yes they can be harmful, but so can doctor prescribed medications. I would rather die looking good than die looking like my father and still suffering from his illnesses. I am pissed because Dr,'s are quick to shoot down things that they aren't being paid to subscribe, and are illegal. I am sure if gear was legal they'd prescribe the shit out of it for those who asked. Anyways this is more of a rant than a question. Peace guys.

because doctors have bought into the hype. Oral steroids are hard on your liver, just like hundreds of other medications that are prescribed all the time. I have said this a hundred times, drol was used at 250-300mg daily for extended periods of time for medicinal purposes, now since the average bodybuilder takes 50-100mg for a couple weeks, i don't see how you are going to magically shit your liver out from this dose.

If your typical bb were dying from a plethora of other problems, they probably wouldn't mind taking such high dosages. Furthermore, many bbers who use say, adrol, will stack it with other compounds which also take a toll. I'm not even considering the recreational substance use that is prevalent in the community.

I don't believe that orals are as toxic as we are often led to believe. But, I think the damage is real, and a possibility. Luckily, it is largely preventable if the correct steps are taken.

I agree, but still liver problems are highly overated, and cholesterol and potential heart disease is highlyl underated, and most likely the biggest problem gear users are going to face later in life.

I believe it was determined that this is dose dependant, but people still insist things like cheque drops and halo make them more aggressive, why I dont know.

So this would mean 50mg drol is the same as 50mg dbol, if that is true, which sounds fine and dandy to me.

So what measures can be taken to prevent or lessen the damage? I heard milk thistles properties include liver preservation and detoxification....what of it guys?

I agree. I would also throw kidney problems onto the list.

The medical community has been trained to overrate the so called detremental affects of AAS....when i first started researching about 12 yrs ago most literature stated "AAS DO NOT ENHANCE ATHLETIC ABILITY"

Draw ur own conclusions.

Gator

You probably do more damage taking tons of tylenol then you would from a short cycle of dbol or drol.

I agree that the liver problems are much overrated. most studies are done on rats with extreme dosages. we must still remain vigilant though in our efforts to remain healthy. I know some guys will read that and not take the proper precautions. still get the blood work done. some people have weak livers without knowing it and it is better to know then just assume you are okay. I also agree that cholesterol should be our biggest focus especially for those of us who stay on extended cycles. that can really fuck you up and most of us only get one heart so take care of it.
