Sumo style diet, good for cycle bulks?

Today I was talking to my strength coach about how I've been losing weight. I don't feel any smaller, less bloated or leaner. I'm just lighter 200lb to 195lb.
Now my coach has known me and seen me progress for about 4 years, he also knows I cycle(felt necessary for him to know)

To the point though; he recommend trying out a sumo wrestler style of eating, instead of eating meals through out the day eat two small meals earlier in the day, then a huge meal late in the day preferably closer to bed time. Idea is that it's supposed to slow your metabolism down, also putting your body in starvation so it want to suck up and store the carbs/fat.

Thinking:

3 cups rice with 8oz pro and chocolate milkx2

Then big meal be burgers, pizza, very high in carb/fat and calorie dense and a lot of it. 2-3000cal

Now I have always been under 10% bf I've never not had full abdominal definition. Usually when I cycle and eat clean I don't gain much weight and lean out to the point to having veins across my stomach. If I eat dirty dirty, (quart of chocolate milk, ice cream, lots of bread, heavy rice like normal, burgers etc.) I stay at about the same bf some days I will just look a bit bloated.

Let me know what y'all think and if this seems ok, figure hell I might give it a try. Goal is to be 210

So you want to gain fat??

The body will adjust to this style of eating and going half the day without eating isn't putting your body in starvation mode or slow down your metabolism.

i think its a horrible way to proceed..

you should be eating alot.. but spreading it throughout the day.. with your goals in mind i would take in 40-50g protein 80g carbs and 12-15g fats 6 times a day

Six times a day is a bit hard for me to do with my job, I can get four, five but it be very close to another meal.
I was going to bump up 185carbs, 60g pro, 20g fat.
I'm at 130, 50, 15 now and losing weight.

then go 5 or 4 meals a day but eat more per meal... your bulking and can get away with it

What would be the ideal time for intermittent fasting?

With how I don't put on noticeable fat now(not saying I'm some freak of nature by any means) maybe I'd respond positively to it.

My coach and I were just thinking outside of the box I suppose, we're both just shocked I've lost weight.

the words intermittent fasting and power lifter should NEVER GO TOGETHER... jesus i hate that shit

Lol ok, I'll stick to the norm and bump up my intake. Simple enough, I appreciate the help 3j and Dre

The ideal time for IF is when it suits your lifestyle and is more convenient than the next diet. Yes there are some benefits to an IF based diet but there are also benefits to other diets as well. Pick whichever one accomadates your schedule the best. IF by itself won't make you gain or lose weight. You're issue if you're trying to bring weight/lbm back up is not enough calories. 3J gave you some good macros to start off with: 240-300g protein, 480g carbs, and 72-90g of fat. Try those macros out in whatever number of meals you can do/prefer. If you fail to gain weight after a week or two add another 200-500calories per day (probably best to up fats and carbs at that point) and look for changes.

I don't think your respond positively to the sumo diet in the ways you mentioned. Maybe it would help lower satiety And allow you to eat more without feeling as full but the body doesn't go into starvation mode by not eating for 1/2 the day. If you want to try it go for it but understand your body will adapt and metabolism changes, if any, will readjust accordingly.

What are you trying to make weight class and under, are you trying to just get stronger while staying the same weight, are you bulking ??

My weight class is 198 but I would like to sit at 210 then be able to make weight come meet time.

Appreciate it! Always have had a strong pull, first time I d.lifted was freshman year HS at 140lb and pulled 365. Now squat has been a long tedious journey I was thrilled when I finally stacked 5 plates on haha
