Switching PINS: A must IMO!

Piercing the rubber on a vial blunts the pin a substantial amount, not only making it more painful, but possibly causing unnecessary tissue damage (although I would think minimal damage...don't quote me on this). I believe switching pins is also a positive means of infection prevention.

For the most optimal and pain free injections, a fresh pin for injection is a MUST, I do every time (I didn't at first). Of course pins are readily available in my location. Agree? Disagree? What is your method?

Common sense for most....not for all...If this topic helps out one person, I consider this to be a constructive thread.

I agree you must switch pins. The rubber stopper as you stated dulls the needle making the injection process much more difficult. I always switch pins.

Alot of people don't though!!! Now that's truly being cheap considering a box of 100 BD's can go for 11-15 USD a box. And you are reducing your chances of feeling some PIP.

Wouldn't necessarily advise this but, just to reply and give my 2 cents. I personally don't switch pins, I use only slin pins and I draw and inject with the same pin. I inject 5 times a week, 2 test shots, 1 b12 shot and 2 vit. d shots. I've been doing this since April (am on TRT) and not had any issues and I definitely don't have any issue with the needle point getting dull or else I wouldn't be doing it. I inject into delts, quads and triceps. I do wipe off the vial with an alcohol pad as well as I can.

Personally I don't see how there wouldn't be less of an infection even if you switched needles if you didn't wipe off the top well enough any bacteria could go inside once you put your first needle into it, and then you would draw it into the syringe. Or how about fumbling around taking the first pin off and exposing the oil to the air and what-not, what if some kind of microscopic particle floating in the air, maybe lint off a shirt or towel or whatever goes in there? Anyway just my own opinion, I'd probably recommend people to switch it especially if they were new. I'm a clean freak though and am careful of everything so maybe that's a reason I've been ok so far.
