Tendinitis fix? Any items help longer term?

Hey, bro. I did not read everything above, so I hope I am offering something new to you. I had a pretty bad flare up of elbow tendinitis a few months ago. It got awful in the gym. Basically every exercise hurt and hurt badly! I went to my chiropractor (He is also the team doctor for a football team) about it. He gave me one of the velcro straps for your elbow. Basically, you strained the muscle to the point it could no longer do the job you were asking it to do (hammer curls are especially bad for it) on its own, so your tendon started trying to take over.....which it can't do. The tendonitis strap worked like a champ for me. I wore it every day for two weeks from the time I got up til I went to bed, and then after that only wore it during my workouts for a month. It actually got better way quicker than I thought it would. It works because the pad underneath puts pressure on the tendon below the elbow which tricks your body into working differently. You DEFINITELY have to do something because the more you train, the worse it will get. My uncle over trained with tendinitis to the point where he couldn't even open a water bottle with that hand. It can get UGLY, bro! I strongly suggest a quick cheap trip to your local chiropractor. They are excellent about treating issues the right way and not suggesting drugs, P.T., or surgeries. Just buying a strap at Rite Aid or wherever won't solve it, if you don't know where the pad needs to be to take the pressure off the tendon. The other thing is to take it easy on the Naproxen (Aleve). There is a reason their ads are all about only taking one per day. Because overuse of it (more than one every 24 hours) can cause kidney damage....and let's face it, every one of us here is already doing dangerous things to our bodies. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. I know how much it sucked when I went through it! Best of luck, brother!

I was having the same problem. Culring would aggravate the hell out of it.. and anytime I had a weight in my hand and my arm was bent I could feel pain in that tendon. Sometimes the pain would be so excruciating it didn't evn make sense to continue lifting..I was pissed!

Anyway, first step was not doing any curling exercises. This went on for about a month and I promise you my bi's didn't lack one bit from not curling. They're involved in every pull and row so I wasn't too worried about it. For some reason doing pull ups didn't aggravate it, so I kept doin my wide grips but started doing lots of close grip chin ups as well (shoulder width, palms facing towards you) on back day which was plenty for my bi's.

Another thing that I'm convinced helped me a lot was doing dead lifts..heavy dead lifts!...4-6 reps. I'm convinced that doing this movement pulled and stretched the tendon while strengthening my forearm muscles around it. I believe this in conjunction with not directly aggravating the tendon, which gave it time to heal, ultimately made it stronger and more resistant to certain movements..

I did start training bi's again last week, but don't do full biceps routines anymore. I'll superset ez curls with drag curls and do that for 2-3 sets twice a week..drag curls hit the biceps in a different way and seem to be put less pressure on that tendon.

One last thing that will really help you, especially until the inflammation goes down, is a product called "Precison" made by Tylenol...this shit is awesome and I was able to get through workouts because of it.

Anyway, that's my input man.. Hope that helps you!

Great advice. I will try some of the exercises you mention and see how they feel.
I am also going to try a sports chiro person today. I have not had any experience with them in the past, so its worth a try.
I have tried physio, sports med doc etc... They just said use Aleve and dont do my lifts. Agg. I have taken breaks but it comes back.

Im sure this will be a try different things and see what works.......

Thanks for the really great advice on this post. I will re-read all of it and try some of it for sure.
