Test C Shelf Life?

I have prescribed Test C and I was wondering what the shelf life on this medication is. Here is the dilemma I've encountered, the bottle says discard 5/28/14 but the vial says use by 10/28/13. Which one do I go off of? I don't feel like calling the pharmacy and having a lengthy discussion with them...

Also, I've heard that once you pierce the vial, it must be used within 30 days, correct?

Thanks guys!

Is it likely that your vial of test cyp will not be used before either of those dates? What is your dose per week? Divide that into 2000mg and that will tell you how many weeks the vial will last you.

Test Cyp lasts more than 30 days. But some recommend discarding it within 30 days of piercing it to avoid risk of contamination. But good luck getting your pharmacy and health insurance actually give you a new vial every 30 days.

prescribed 200mg week, but I know I will only need roughly 50 -60mg 2x week... so anywhere from 100-120mg week.

So 100mg a week will last you 20 weeks. That puts you out to around the middle of October if you start using it today. So you are fine either way! Which date is the correct one is a moot point.

Besides, Test Cyp lasts longer than either of those dates is stored properly.

What is the best way to store them? I'm assuming there is a more efficient way other than what it says on the bottle...?

Cool, dry place that is out of the direct sunlight. And someplace where your kids or whomever won't be getting into it. A cupboard would be good.

I have heard of some people refrigerating it, but you don't have too. Plus then you would have to warm it up before injecting it.
