My Dr is prescribing test because of my low number. Either a gel or a once a week injection. Question is will he actually let me inject my self or do I need to visit him one a week? Another question is will he want a quick follow up visit once prescribed? I started my new 12 week cycle the day after my checkup was done. I am going to just keep th gel or whatever I get till I'm off. Thanks guys.

Totally depends on the doc... My first doc had me come in for 1 1/2 years and have the nurse inject... 200mgs every two weeks. I complained that I had to pay a co-pay everytime so he gave the script to me. 200mgs every two weeks does NOT cut it.....My test levels at the end of two weeks were bout 250 soooo I switched docs and now I'm on 200 every week and levels are 700-800.

Typically your doc wont blood test ya for bout 6 mo. to a year...in my experience. I've been cruisin for 3-4 years. Whatever you do REFUSE the gel........

I don't want to have to go and have the injections done. I prefer to do it myself if that's even an option. Why refuse the gel?

The gel is typically less efficient and has the potential to transfer to others in your household. If you have small kids, the doc shouldn't even offer it to you. With regards to your doc letting you self inject - it's really hit or miss, as some docs refuse it while others are all for it. I personally had to have my doctor's assistants watch me inject twice in his office (still got billed for it of course) before they would let me take everything home. I can't imagine how much money it would cost to have my doctor's office give me injections 2x/wk!

some mom and pop drugstore will give injects for free if your a customer , also get a friend whos a rn to say she is giving the injects if you have to.

I emailed the Dr back on this online medical website which is pretty cool. It has all my records on it and allows communication back and forth without calling. I said I'd prefer injectable since my girlfriend is a registered nurse. My fingers are crossed. I can't imagine spending $10 a bottle for test!!!!

Yea , keep us posted on this. I've been wanting to find a doc to agree to even giving me a script for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). It's just so expensive going to a doctor who specifies in testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and hormone replacement. And my primary physician will most likely say a big fat NO :(

He should let you do it. I don't know of anybody that goes to the doc once a week for an injection. And yes, you'll probably have to go every 3 months for a while just for them to monitor where your levels are. Then they'll probably do every 6 months. You definitely don't wanna be on a cycle when you have to go because he'll see that it's real high and he'll probably lower your dose.

Now I'm waiting on pre approval from my insurance company since it's a controlled substance. Then hopefully he'll prescribe injectable. I wish he would do 6 months instead of 3. I just started my 12 week so I'd hate to have to cut the cycle in half.
