Testosterone is commonly thought of as the male hormone that is responsible for sex drive and secondary sex characteristics, such as pubic hair and muscle development. However, testosterone is also present in the female body and responsible for other functions, such as regulating cholesterol and bone mineral density.

5.6 percent of the male population suffer symptoms of low testosterone, but this percentage increases substantially as men age.

Man, I wish I had seen this 10 years ago. testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is definitely a life saver, and being one of those in the 5.6% that had felt every symptom listed including diabetes, I'm so happy to say it's behind me (getting ready to ween off of the diabetes meds even!). I just can't figure out if it's big pharma pushing the "band aids" for the symptoms in the form of anti-depressants/diabetes meds (both are in the top 10 drugs sold today) or if the medical community is just THAT scared of having masculine, healthy men running around. Great informative post as usual! :)
