Testosterone Replacement Therapy in Australia

An episode of Head First aired on ABC this evening, and featured a segment with an anti-aging doctor who was willing to prescribe TRT to the presenter despite him having TT at 16.7 nmol/L (480 ng/dL). He didn't mention free T.

The doctor later said that TRT wouldn't shut the presenter down for life. I don't know if he meant that he'd recover with a restart, or that the expectation was that normal production would resume. So I'm not entirely sure I'd trust him.

Anyway, the episode is available (if you're in Oz) until 28th March at:

Head First - Series 2 Ep 2 Tailor Made Bodies : ABC iview

However it does prove that there are doctors in Australia willing to prescribe TRT for those who fall outside of the 6 nmol/L (170 ng/dL) cut-off mandated by the PBS.

Can you please post your lab results and cut off any personal info so we can give you advice as to which direction you should go. For starters there are 2 types of Hypogonadism Primary and secondary. Primary relates to the gonads or balls failed to make enough Testosterone whilst secondary hypogonadism is insufficiency of your pituitary gland to make enough supporting hormones called gonadotropin LH and FSH. Firstly check blood test for Total T, Free T, LH and FSH, LFT, PSA and estradiol E2.

Post the results here then we can direct you. There are few online mens health clinics that can help you even if you are not deemed as they call it in Australia as hypogonadal <6nmol T level.

Firstly go and get blood tests to begin with..

Cheers
