havent seen a thread on this so excuse me if one has already been started. Was wondering if anyone had any experience using Alli and if you felt it would be a good product to use with a diet or not. Thanks for the feedback

I've never used it personally but have been given first hand knowlege from those who have. Alli is the brand new OTC weight loss product however it's been around in prescription form for years. It's the same as the active ingredient in prescription Xenical (Orlistat). The main difference is the strength. Xenical is 120mg's of Orlistat and Alli is 60mg. Basically the way it (Orlistat) works is it blocks the absorption of SOME of the fats that you eat. I believe the exact amount is right around 30%. One can expect to lose 50% more weight then diet alone. Here's the kicker is, if that fat isn't being absorbed, where does it go?? Now for the side effects.... nothing deadly but you can expect excess gas with oily residue, loose/oily stool, uncontrolable bowel movements, and anal discharge (usually in the form of an orange oily foul smelling residue). Have adult diapers on hand...lol. Basically it's a drug for extremely obese individuals who can't exercise, are at the end of thier ropes or have had little success with cleaning up thier diet. For them the benefit out weighs the sides but I highly doubt anyone on this board would want/need to use it...IMO

LAZY that is all I have to say. Then again come back and let us know how it feels to shit yourself in the middle of the day.

It is a big marketing ploy by the manufacturer/pharmaceutical company. If im not mistaken they even have the bottom half of an atheletic woman running, as if to say,. if you take this you will look like this or it will if you take it. Specifically directed to women. It will not work for the person who just need to loose a few lbs or bf%. It is for the obese that are too lazy to diet and workout, lol! "Oh, so i can eat like a pig and icecream and deserts and take a few pills and dont have to do anything, lol!" I speak from experience, if a woman needs to loose that last bit of bf% or just a few lbs and her diet is right, it just plain wont work. Cardio and diet consistantly is what will.

If you pig out thats another story. I use it occasionally, as I am middle aged and prone to putting on body fat. I primarily use it when I am going out to a restaurant for a family occasion and don’t necessarily want to make to big a deal about where we eat. It can be great insurance when you order chicken with rice or potatoes and it comes swimming in the chef’s favorite oil or butter.

Speaking of side effects, the potential sides of many of the chemicals discussed on this board such as Clen (potential for heart attack) or Anadrol (virtually every bad thing that can happen to a person) are far worse.

Xenical or alli or ortholistat - whatever - provides a small occasional buffer with little if any risk. It will not substitute for a lifestyle change. Which, because of the evil greedy pharmaceutical companies, is the way it is marketed.

Its kind of funny but my friend is a pharmacist. She like to tell me tons of funny stories about all the dumb people in the world she meets.

So right before this post was made she told me the story about a man who had recently bought this product. Well apparently your suppose to follow the recomendations on fat intake otherwise you will have "bowel" problems. So apparently this guy calls in and is just raving mad because there is something wrong with this product. Turns out he was out to eat with the family at a pizza shoppe and ended up shitting his pants out of the blue.

I swear, American's are not freaking ready for this product. We started selling it at GNC and I am honestly scared for the dumbass customers who buy this stuff. Honestly, you'd be doing yourself a favor to buy the book along with it so that you know what the hell you're doing or actually listen to instructions on how to properly use the stuff. But they just buy it like it's a friggin' thermogenic! If used correctly, the stuff will work. You know why? Like Pavlov's dogs, it actually attempts to condition the user to actually change their lifestyle (i.e. eating habits, exercise, etc.). If you exceed the 15 grams of fat/serving, yeah, you'll probably shit yourself in public while at coffee with one of your girlfriends. Probably wouldn't want it to happen again, so next time you'd be more careful and more likely to use it the proper way. But really, the Orlistat is just a fraction of the process. It's a fat-blocker. That's it. But, being ignorant, people think that it's the new magic pill that's going to cure them from being fat! They just think, "Ah great! I'll just sit on my ass all day watching Maury and watch the pounds just drop off! Give me a friggin' break!

Excuse the rant, but with all the knowledge GNC packed into our brains on this stuff, and all the stupid customers I get, I needed to let it all out...
