i had shoulder surgery 4 weeks ago to repair my labrum, SLAP tear, and removed damaged cartilage. MRI showed a slight tear but once asleep he said he could just pull my shoulder in and out of the socket. 7 screws were put in along with some rope to tie things together. the Dr. said in 6 months is the general time these things take to heal 100%. seeing as how the extent of damage i have a feeling it will be longer. anyone with experience in this have advise for me? what are things i should stay away from that will irritate it when i get back into lifting?

I had a torn labrom... minus the srews etc.... Let me tell u, that surgery sucks my dick. The worst of three surgurys ive had. The best advice I can give u( myself-one year post Op) is to focus on your legs/cardio for the next 6+ months. Ofcourse find a good Pt/who gives a shit, and go THE whole time untill you complete the therapy. Do everyhting they ask... 2 months in u can push yourself, but clear everythting w yout Dr/therapist. As far as your shoulder and lifting heavy... Imo 9-12 months post Op. Main thing is u DO NOT want to do that shit again

ya what was supposed to be a simple 30 minute surgery turned into 4. i was scheduled to ship off to the Navy in May and im still having hell convincing them theres no way ill be ready to go in 6 months much less in May. the doc said if it happens again they'll have to take bone graphs so the last thing i wanna do is push it early and fuck it up again. so far ive only been to the PT twice, they just show me the stretches for 5 minutes and i leave so i dunno.
ive just started hitting legs agian because im gettin small as fuck! did your shoulder come back 100%?

Do excatly what your pt says bro... NOTHING MORE. Not even scratching your ass. But, If your PT isnt trying to help u out then tell them to eat a dick, and go somewhere else.... Try to find somebody who deals w athletes.....however u will be taking tiny baby steps for a while so... Something ive learned in this game is it aint gonna be 100% ever after surgery bro, that just the way it is. U were in bad shape, so u needed the surgery. So just take it slow/eat your ass off, or youll get tiny FAST(especially your shoulder). Few weeks from now slowly add in core workouts in.

As far as the rucruiter goes.. dont let them pimp u around, cause its not their shoulder and they could care less. Your not gonna be ready/think about all the things u will be doing in boot camp.

I slipped on some ice when we had 3 weeks of record setting blizards, and fell on right on my shoulder 21 days post op.. i was pisssssssed. The Dr couldnt believe i didnt break my collar bone. I have some inpingement and a bone spur/os acrominale issues/hurts most of the time. Still lifting/getting stronger. Basically saving some money up and gonna go see the man! See what he says about going in again. If i do it again ill be in peak strength/physical condition going in. Something that any surgeon worth a shit would suggest prior. These retards surgens around these parts are fired!!
IMO if things go smoothly you can be 50%-70%(give or take)6-9months.. I wouldnt ship out any less then 10-12 months. Hand to hand combat/swimming/jumping around/climbing/hundreds of pushups etc. I wouldnt risk seriously fucking it up over 2-4 months of extra rehab.
After i got crusing in rehab i was in ther 2+ hours 3x a week... Adding in alot of my own extra touches/with his supervision. My therapist was like wtf. You have to bust your ass in there.
-Best
