Anyone have shoulder Surgery??

Wasn't sure where to ask this question so I apologize in advance.

So a week before I start my first cycle I dislocate my shoulder, again. I had a buddy pop it back it for me at the gym and now I'm sitting on my couch wondering if I should just get this surgery or not.

My shoulder hasn't popped out for a around 6 months, but in the last few years its happened at least 15 times. So its probably time for surgery.

Has anyone here had experience with this problem? Had the surgery? What was your recovery time? When were you back to lifting heavy ass fucking weights?? I'd hate to be out of the gym for months and gain weight. And if you did have the surgery how long before you could at least do body weight type exercises and cardio?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I had a serious couple of shoulder injuries while riding my Hayabusa and surgery was an option both times, but I opted out of it due to lifting down time. Have you thought about consulting with someone familiar with muscle structure and perhaps kinesiology, or something along the sport medicine line? When the doc told me I wouldn't be able to lift for a year after surgery I chose to build up all the surrounding supportive muscles to ensure I wouldn't have issues and although it was a long process I'm back to benching in the 400's for reps. I had dislocated my shoulder and snapped my collar bone in two places and was told that I should stick to body weight exercise by some non-lifting doctor. My shoulder would pop out at the weirdest of times and I knew that risking it on the bench press would be too dangerous. If you can give this a try then perhaps it would be a possible alternative. It'll take time, but at least you can lift, besides while running a cycle lifting heavy isn't necessarily a requirement to get the same gains.

May I ask what was your diagnosis from your dr? It could be one of a few causes! ?

I've tore my shoulder from the bone here is an article you should look at

Honestly man I only went to the doc the first two times I dislocated it which was back around 2012 I believe. Each time I got x-rays and all the doc would tell me is the tendons are stretched out and loose. I was never told I have any tears or anything.

@anabolicsrevisited can you tell me what sort of excersices you did to strengthen the surrounding muscles? My shoulder only pops out with one movement which is a lateral side raise type movement.

And yesterday at the gym I was doing reps of 225 with no pain what so ever. When I dislocate the shoulder it's literally fine the next day. No pain or anything.

YouTube "rotator exercises". These will make a tremendous difference in not only stabilizing your shoulders, but you'll notice your lifts will increase as you build up the weak links in your upper body.

I personally do internal and external stretches on a cable tower on chest day, and a full series of other exercises as a warm up on shoulder day.

Be careful with the cycle, you're going to push those already week structures to their limits - which is how injuries occur. Stretching and working on supporting structures only adds a few minutes to your workouts, but they are very definitely worth it. ;)

My .02c :)

First you need and mri,! An X-ray is not going to show you what your looking for!
Everything your are saying is what I went through ! X-rays showed nothing on mine also! They told me it was dislocated also, until I was doing therapy! And they could literally pull my shoulder in and out .it didn't hurt. The therapist would not see me any longer ! Referred me to a specialist! There are different types of mri 's also. Strengths.
This is how I found out ! I had three tears ,small. Front side and rear! It will get worse and you will continue to build scar tissue every time this occurs if you don't push for an mri and get a second opinion! One night I fell asleep with my arm up on the pillow and face on my arm/hand while my other arm was at my side ! My shoulder came out of place . When I woke up I couldn't get up! I had to yell until someone come up and rolled me over and my arm went back in place!

Same thing happened to me that happened to you with pull downs ! I've found so not go full extention with your arms, it will keep you from hitting that point where your arm comes out of socket! Lateral raises arm straight out ,would make me feel like my shoulder buckled or crumbled.. Your shoulder is vulnerable extended now! They need to go in and shrink em up . They will make a very small incision, 1/4" and hopefully just shrink up the tendons . Because I waited so long and my shoulder kept coming out of socket ,I chipped up the bone . So the had to go in and shave it down also!
Please get an mri!!!
